Forgoodness sake people don't need to get so wound up. It's my opinion which Iam entitled to. I think alot of people are taking it the wrong way, I never criticised their quality or engineering in any way, more the tiny mainstream products you can purchase are overpriced, is my evaluation of that wrong?

? I have a 2.35 made from the very best parts, ready for high 500s ? Is that not big power anymore!
All I need is a big turbo. 460/460 is not that slow for the road lol
RCM rule the end .....

My name is Ryan,
Failures is not the argued point here but I can assure you they have had failures as it's part and parcel of the tuning world whether your RCM or a tuning division of a main dealer/formula one even.
The fact is for 30k you would not being seeing that much of what is termed as a big power build these's days, just take a look at F1 CJE's build which I will say is stunning but not what I'd expect for that sort of money.
AND if you seriously don't see any difference between 3k and 30 then your wallet is to big

Wow people how many times does the OP need to say its not the quality of work, its not the higher end parts that they had spent all the R and D on etc as no one can dispute all of that.
The op is on about the smaller parts manufactured by other companies or oem parts that can be had cheaper. Such as side lights etc.
I can see his point but rip off and disgrace are over the top........
If I had the money would I use RCM.........of course I would but would I pay extra for a front light that was made by the same company possibly not.

Disgrace is a terrible word to use, Someone at least change the title line.
I have been a customer of RCM for many many years and like Alan Jeffrey APi spends £60,000 plus every year. And for that we get a discount.
But the service is second to none, their knowledge is second only to mine and they very rarely don't have what l want in stock now and it can be delivered anywhere in the country AM tomorrow.
You have to pay for that.
But OP;- take a look at flatfouronline I am sure he does cheap parts and then read all of the posts on here about waiting over 6 months for parts to arrive and being fobbed off at every turn and not being being paid back until the cops are walking up his path etc., etc.
You pays your money and you takes your chance, but there is no chance involved at RCM you get proper quality parts arriving on the day you want them.
A BIG up for RCM

Like any company, when your driven by price there's some things you buy from them and somethings you won't.
For example, RCM are cheaper for V1/2 Samco Rad Hoses than Import Car Parts. But the same price as most places on Engine Mounts etc On the flip side identical brand engine parts can be imported from the states much cheaper. But hey so what
You pays your money you makes your choice They're not a disgrace lol, they're a business, and a very good one at that. No one supplier is going to meet all your parts or budget needs which is why the internet is so frickin awesome Although some people will buy regardless because it says 'RCM' which is another discussion altogether
I use RCM for specific parts I know are good and I know are priced fairly if not priced the cheapest. For other parts I shop around simples

A better and more accurate thread title would be "RCM take the mickey/**** with their charges"
If you do not want to pay their charges then do not use them and find it cheaper elsewhere, there is always someone selling/doing things at better prices, it is whether what they offer is of the same quality and has the same support and recourse should things go wrong. Id so buy from them, simple!

I use RCM for some of my parts and yes they have a good price on them, but again as most of the lads say you get amazing quality!! a proven tested product, that works well, with hours and hours of R&D, and thousands of pounds spent too is worth every penny..
And have you seen the boxes the stuff comes in ?
I love it the box as much as the parts inside it.
I bought a certain part form a trader on here through there ebay store, not going to name them or the part, but it was around £60 the RCM one was just under £200, I bought the ebay one, and it is very poor quality you could pull it apart with your bare hands, parts of it that should be air tight had no bonding and let in air, the inside should be nice and smooth and it was rough and had loose bits that could come off and enter the engine.
I ended up buying the RCM one and the quality is second to none, exactly the way I would expect a high quality item to be.

Any fool can set up to sell low quality goods at cheap prices. You may think their indicators are over priced but they probably looked at quite a few sources before settling on one source to stock. A £30 part has to be worth their time and effort to stock.
A lot of people these days have to discount their prices to be competative. When you are RCM there is no need. Discounting prices just leads to cutting corners. If you are busy with work at the prices you advertise then you are running the business correctly!

The words "Rip off" & "Disgrace" are out of order here RCM are great at what they do, Their mail order services are second to none their award winning "Gobstopper" has become a legend in it's own right!!!
In this internet world cheaper prices can always be found just remember it's the service and back up that you are paying for! If a part fails it will be dealt with professionally with no fuss. Rather than tying to contact a faceless website where the product may have been cheaper and not getting anywhere for months.
Keep up the good work fella's!
Ads, Kev and all the boys at the clinic!

I've used RCM several times, and their service is second to none.
I might be able to find some parts cheaper elsewhere, but the fact i've never looked elsewhere probably says how happy i am with the service i get with them.
Parts are always in stock, and delivered the next day. Can't fault them at all.

I have used RCM for my late rebuild you call them before 5 and you get your quality part the next day, i know that they are expencive but i also know that when i put the fone down i am getting the correct part and not a cheap copy.
I have been reading this all day at work and i think its a joke now RCM is a top quality company and doesnt deserve to be described as a Disgrace or rip off. If you not happy with the price Ebay can help.

Main thing is that it is a competitive market, and if RCM can still sell at their prices and be competitive then is speaks volumes about their stature in the market.
I dont buy from them, I dont think I would buy from them but no-one can deny that they have a reputation for quality. Whether you buy from them is entirely your choice, the products they sell are not sold by them exclusively.

Supply and demand, if there's no buyers they wouldn't sell them or they would lower the price as any other business does. All market leaders have the luxury of charging premium prices. Cashing in on their brand is exactly correct and a perfectly acceptable practice.

Having been in the tuning business since I opened my garage in 1983 I've had plenty of experience in dealing with suppliers. I'd say RCM are easily the best I've dealt with in terms of efficiency, and there have been many occasions when I've called them at 5.25 in the evening, and I've had the stuff by 10am next day.
We spend a very large five figure sum every year with them, and every engine we build uses a high content of RCM parts. Of course, spending that much, I get a discount!
We don't buy everything from them of course, but it isn't difficult to see that with certain parts, quality transcends every other consideration.
Put it this way, when you buy your girlfriend perfume, she wants Chanel number 5, not Boot's own brand, and my customers need to know that I haven't skimped on the parts.

Thats apart from you Alan.
Alan Jeffery engine still going strong with some RCM bits in it.
Thanks to both.

DELETE THIS THREAD PLEASSSSSSEEEEEEE
Can someone delete this thread please its just not rite talking about great companies like that its horrible, they have the prices the way they think its rite and if you think its expensive look else where, personally i think they have competitive prices with other maybe a little more then others but that is up to them. Gstar would cost you $120 trousers, Primark $5 make your choice, calling them names is just wrong so PLEASE CAN SOME ONE DELETE THIS THREAD if possible.

people have the choice imo
dont want to pay there rices then dont.
they have arguably built the best classic of all time.
no doubt spent a sh*t load in research and development - so there own engineered parts are worth the expense
whats not acceptable is for a company to re-sell a product widley available for a premium because of there name.
im not saying they do that - but imo thats not on.
ive bought m,any bits from RCM andnever had a sinlge complaint from any
where as bigger companies i have had problems with there products.

again ask most uk builders, and they generally recommend an RCM oil pump on a build above standard power?
why would that be?
the expense bumps up the builders price, but imo they choose for the build quality and reialablity - which is what people want - and builders. last thing they want is come backs. why choose a more expensive part for no additional benefits?
