RCM prices: OTT?
#91
just because someone sells at a higher price than someone else that makes them a disgrace? i run my own company and i tell my customers all the time they can probably get the job done cheaper but they still choose me, why? because like rcm i deliver what they want with excellent workmanship. No offence intended in my next statement but, just because you can't afford or are to tight to pay for quality, not only in the item ( rcm do not sell cheap sh#t ) but also the outstanding service they have does not mean they are a disgrace.

I have been to RCM so many times to buy parts for my car, every time i go there i get an Excellent customer service and top advise. And it doesnt matter if i walk away without buying anything they will treat me the same when i go back. Nice people and top quality parts if you can afford it pay for it, if you cant save up then buy and believe me you wont regret even when you think about the price. Im done with this thread. HORRIBLE

I find it strange that a company like RCM would sell very average second hand items on EBay. The link above is for some battered old gauges without any senders etc etc.
Is it just me who thinks that's odd ?
They have built a rep on selling quality, why would they damage that rep by selling crap ?

Sorry, when I said crap I meant compared to the usual RCM products.
The gauges above are dented and scratched, do not come with any senders or even the controller. They are also fitted into some plastic panel that is far from quality.
For me, I find that very strange that RCM would sell stuff like this. Surely they don't the money, what are the gauges going to make.. £50 maybe £60. Surely the risk of bad feedback is not worth £50 / £60 to RCM.

It's very easy to build up large stocks of used and spurious components. At any one time we have tens of thousands of pounds worth of used, partially damaged, faulty or non stock items. No doubt RCM are the same. I see absolutely no reason why these products cannot be sold on to release the tied up capital as long as they're sold with an honest and accurate description. How can that hold any negativity to any party involved?

I simply have to comment.......
Expensive of course, Quality absolutely, customer service fantastic..........customer experience outstanding.
Its all about choice & those who make those choices decide their path, mine is RCM

I have known Matt and Olly for over 7 years and I would never let anyone but them touch my car, their service is 1st class and they treat your car as if its their own. Labour charges are less than some other dealers/tuners and
the R/D they put into new parts adds value. They have customers all over the country and abroad who must think it's worth their while and money to come such long distances to have RCM work on their car. You do get what you pay for and if you want quality you pay for it.

Maybe it's time the mods changed this title.
RCM are expensive but deffinately far from a disgrace.
There are two Indian take aways in my town which both sell good quality food. One is quite a bit more expensive than the other even though the food is very similar.
We always use the more expensive one.
The reason for this is service.
The cheaper one sends a delivery man out in a battered Nissan Micra, he's dressed in jeans and tee-shirt and speaks broken English in a strong eastern European accent.
The dearer restaurant send their man out in a modern Merc, dressed in a suit and speaks perfect English. Knocks on the door and always greets me with, " good evening Mr Bradford, lovely to see you again etc etc.
You see my point.
I have yet to buy anything from RCM and I do think that certain items are overly expensive. Especially things like their exhausts and induction kits when lets face it are made by someone else and then bumped up in price because of the RCM badge. But from people I've spoken to who use them the service really is second to none, and I'm afraid that costs. If you want to be treated well and made to feel important then you have to pay for it. It's just life and that's why I pay the extra for a curry.

I've just looked at the Porsche website, have you seen how much they charge for a car with 4 wheels, seats and an engine, its disgusting.
I went to RCM today, saw the facilities, the cars, the staff and the products. The workshop is like a clinic, spotless in every way. The staff were working ALL the time, not stood around chatting etc, the dyno was in use all afternoon and there were people in and out all day.
Having attended other tuner/supplier premises I can honestly say this is the most professional and would gladly pay the extra to know my car was getting the best treatment, best parts and service. I cant always afford it so have to comprimise and use my judgement about where to go and what to buy, BUT I DONT WHINE ABOUT IT
As above, this thread should be closed.

You simply don't belong on a forum with an attitude like yours, rcm are and always have been at the top of the game, yes they are expensive, but the old addage applies, " you get what you pay for"!!!
Matt, Ollie and the team go far and above the levels of service you get in most places, a few well known Subaru specialists are included here!!!
At the end of the day and without disrespect, if you can't afford to pay their prices as a lot of others can't, you shop elsewhere, don't slag them off on a Subaru forum for no reason!!

Ok then..
I bring to you a Subaru asking for a repaint.
It is a MY 2000 car, with rusty rear arches, stonechips on the front, usual shopping trolley dents along the side.
It is metallic.
I've been quoted two prices, one at £1000.00, the other at £3000.00.
I decide to go for the £3000.00 option...
Am I being ripped off....?

Seriously though, people are getting a bit carried away here. Yes the thread title is off but the OP is refering to the parts made by other companies which I agree with him on... To a point.
The way I look at it though their customers that are paying these prices are doing so in support for RCM. Just look at their workshop and their staff, second to none and they don't pay for it by making 99p on an exhaust system.
It also probably stops all the retards ringing them up all the time with their chavved up 1993 wrx (not all 93 wrx owners are retards)

I'm glad this thread was posted,it just goes to show how popular RCM are and,the respect that people have for them including people who don't even use them, back to back Time Attack winners,T.O.T.B. winners 3 years on the trot, the cars in their stable,Gobstopper,Team Ice,Skullfudges P1,Martys P1,WR1 R9SY B,there are 2 cars in at present for 2.3 engine builds, the Subarus that look like the Gobstopper are a good testament,I know of a professional rugby player who plays in France who had his 450bhp RA built at RCM,they have just sorted a car for a customer who lets say, lost his way on a major rebuild, this car was trailored in from over 300 miles away to RCM.
Also the tuners that stock RCM parts, they must think they are good value.
But I'll leave the last words to RCM,and you won't read them on here or any other forum, wait for the Gobstopper II.

Opinions are like *** holes, everyone has one. Deal with it and move on
The company im using for my build, the majority of people on here think they are S*it, but I have good service from day one and will continue to use them.
