He didn't speak to the other child, my son hadn't left the class at this point, he was waiting with the other children to go and get their coats/lunch bags etc at the start of lunchtime.

I have managed to find out that he was given a cheese sandwich.

I picked up my son from school a while back only to find a letter in his back pack saying my son had bumped his head at school. It was only when I asked my sons friends how he bumped his head I found out one of the older children had pushed him over, some of the teachers knew this but chose not to disclose this information.

Funny you should say that. I had to go and pick him up eatly on the last day of half term as he had hurt himself while playing on the yard. They were concerned because he had cut his mouth and may need stitches.

When I got there his lip was split and he was covered in blood, he looked like he would have been better off in hospital. I was given some damp paper towels to clean him up and disco red he had a nose bleed as well, but luckily when all the blood was cleaned off him, he didn't look as bad as I originally thought.

I was told he ran I to something, but he then told me he was running and two friends were holding his hands and banged him into 'the pencils'. (the pencils basically being these large pencils that stand up out ofbthe ground, completely pointless, and apparently dangerous).

It's as if the school is scared to admit that **** happens. It does though, so just admit jt.

I think you have two separate issues; that the school is not keeping you informed and that your son needs to stand up for himself.

I would be wanting to know exactly what went on (and not from a five year old) and what the school policy is on bullying.

Its this kind of **** why we don't have kids.
This kind of thing has been going on forever but when I were a lad the teachers sorted it with a thick ear, or detention. When I was at primary school there was a teacher with a really big gold ring. If you did anything wrong he would whack you on the top of the head with it. Hard enough so you did not do it again. None of this h&s bs all the time. My sisters kids can't do anything without a risk assessment and 4 teachers to every child. And we wonder why the kids of today are fecked. Oh well, rant over.

This might be a one off but just in case I'd talk to the teacher/head teacher.

Failing that talking to the other kids parents should surely be an option.

Its a hard one mate. me I would go down at hometime and grab a hold of the parents, I'm guessing my wife has a different stance to me. Dreading the first time something like this happens to my little girl cos i'll get locked up

True but it is a gut reaction - i speak from experience (see my post earlier) your overriding instinct is to protect your child.

The answer is to speak to the school first, ask what happened - get both sides of the story and then ask them what THEY are going to do about it. They have a duty of care to ensure your child's safety and well-being. it could be a one off or part of something bigger.

dialogue is the answer. In my case i have a meeting with the 'head' at 9am this morning.

I said "dialogue is the answer" if you do not understand the word 'dialogue' then look it up in what is called a 'dictionary' it may give you a clue.

I'm going to be teaching my lad if he gets bullied then he hits them back. Sod what the teachers say or think. That's the best way to deal with it. I was bullied at school for a couple of years. It all stopped when I started fighting back. I've never let anyone intimidate me since.

But I'll also make sure he knows that if ever he starts something or is the one doing the bullying then he'll be in a whole world of sh*t from me.

I dont think that would have been such a bad thing if he had done him more damage. The bully gave him a good old right hook at the very start of the clip, enough to snap his head back quite hard. He was not playing about, that was a proper punch. Punches like that can kill people.

He was lucky that the kid walked off, becuase had he gone to town on him he would not have stood a chance. But then again, he is no bully so he protected himself upto the point where he was ok and then walked away. IIRC this case made national news in the US and the bigger kid ended up on quite a lot of TV shows.

No doubt the bully will never learn, in the US they tend to end up with a bullet in the gut for their trouble later in life.

I have got a little tired of my eldest getting attacked by this other girl, i have explained to her/them not to start trouble and to tell a teacher (she is 8 and her sister 6) but if they are afraid and/or and cannot get away from the person to defend themselves. I have taught them some very basic self defence - Judo and Karate moves how to punch properly, how to use the other persons weight and momentum against them and how to shake of someone grabbing them/trying to pull them over, how to pin someone. the usual stuff.

I hope they do not need to use it but better they can defend themselves that get picked on.

Time to take your son for some MMA training or boxing and no kid will Fu ck with him after that.

I will be enrolling my kid in some form of martial arts when she is old enough to teach her how to look after herself and respect others.

I know folk dont agree with things like teaching kids to fight but in the proper manner it can be a great help to a kids fitness and mentality.

My brother used to fight MMA style, a few on here have seen his splendid performance! Lol.

He now has a few mental health issues due to the amount of times he's been punched/kicked/kneed in in the head.
Just unlucky I guess.

I haven't even had the chance to speak to his teacher yet, as she wasn't there this morning when I dropped him off.

There is a difference between martial art training, which is generally focused on self defence and as you rightly point out, fitness versus the stupidity of the cage fighting stuff that was all over the news a few weeks ago or telling your kids to go out and batter someone.

I'm also telling me lad not to let people hit him and if they do, hit them back. He knows that hitting people is wrong though, that's the important aspect. Plus he doesn't like people in his personal space, it upsets him so he might be taken as a bit of a push over at school. I'd rather he wasn't.
