As with all copyrighted media, when you buy you aren't buying the physical medium on which the content is shipped, you are buying the license or right to use the content. As long as you have proof of purchase you should be able to simply re-download any lost or corrupted stuff. It's not widely publicised, but if a CD, DVD or BD stops playing, as long as it looks in good condition, you are entitled to a free replacement from the supplier. You own the content, and just because the carrier may have become faulty doesn't diminish your right to own what you have paid for.
