Early WRX an STI came with CDB. Some V2 got them but not all as Subaru were fading them out while the V2 was in production.

I have a 555 and as standard it had a TD05. Were these meant to be 276BHP then? As standard mine had 291BHP and just over 300BHP with the prova ECU it had.

In Japan at the time it was law for manufactures to state that their car produced no more than 276 bhp. Even the great R34GTR was stated at 276 lol.
Many cars came out of the respective factories with much more than 276bhp but because of the law they couldn't advertise it.
My pals standard 11 year old (at the time) V2 made 280 for instance. And considering it would of lost quite a few ponies in the 11 years would suggest it left Subaru with a bit more than 276.

None ever got close to 300bhp, you were lucky if you got more than 285bhp, most hit around 270-280bhp, and its hard to tell as he say's its a 1996 car so if it is, far less than 280ps to start with (well 275ps )

money mate been done on cheap got mate that works at cosworth hence all the cosworth parts car was a bit of a mess when i 1st got it was only aiming for 400bhp i know my engine will take alot more but then how long will it last ??? 400bhp is safe

Even the great 22B only got 280PS (according to Subaru).

As Tony says, the 1996 STI V2 555 got 275PS along with all the STI models of that year.
280 came into effect in 97 when the V3 was released.

But as I said, these were numbers issued because Subaru could not advertise any more.
I would think the V3 was making a bit more than 280 out of the box.
