Tomtom, been all over the UK and Europe with mine and its never let me down.
As for map upgrades its only new housing estates that it doesn`t get, but if you select the user updates, if people manually input a new road/roundabout etc then they get updated that way.
My ONLY gripes are speaker died (ebay replacement works great), and battery died (again ebay jobbie fixed it), and phantom road speed changes where roadworks were lol.
The early Tomtoms were crap in comparison, but the ones the last few years are head and shoulders above everything else.

Do any of these come with TMC (as per my almost dead Garmin). Gets a signal via an FM aerial that overlays and shows jams and delays. No subscription.
As an aside I had a Snooper Lynx to show speed cams and always be up to date on them as it had 3G via a SIM card subscription and active uploads by users. It didn't even know of the cameras on the Euston underpass - utter utter pants!

Just had a Google, and was worried as the sub cost was a bit buried - however it was £47 pa which isn't too bad, especially as it seems its 2 way - you can upload camera vans too as a good citizen I guess?!
Currys have a good deal for £156 + another £30 cashback here http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tomtom-...64436-pdt.html Too many versions though!!!

I got the via 120 live brand new from a amazon trader and it was £30 cheaper than the rrp.
The google search is pretty handy too and weather reports for your destination or anywhere for that matter
