Given the ultra hostile opposition to anything homosexual displayed on here, for example, i can better appreciate his decision to opt out, if the stories are true. Still, it won't stop the queer bashing will it? No, of course not. They're queers, after all. Probably deserved what he got, right?

I was thinking about this the other day.
Half of the knuckle draggers will want the flowers/shirts (they layed at various footy grounds) back if they find out they liked a homo!

What really mattered was his footballing skill and his effectiveness as a manager.
His sexuality is of no consequence and if the gutter press was about to divulge any such facts, they want stuffing!

It all boils down to some people feeling good in picking on others for being different, to feel better in themselves. If they don't pick on others for being different, they themselves may end up committing suicide, after having a long look in the mirror. Its like that legendary woman in the racist rant video. She will probably continue to project her inferiority all her life.
About queer bashing, sometimes, some people aren't as fortunate or brave to be able to open up about their sexuality. Such people may exhibit extreme/chronic/acute homophobic symptoms. The fact is that they could be homing a homosexual inside them. Its just that they simply can't face up to it, or deal with it. Living in denial can lead to various mental disorders. One of them is Homophobia.

One of the things we tend to do, unfortunately, is overestimate how bad something is going to be. Still, you can at least partly imagine what would have been going through his head, especially when it involves the world of football. Very dark stuff.
