Winter 2011/2012

We had a snow shower dancing wild on the tune of the winds two days ago for about 10 minutes. Next minute the sun shone bright like the band master, and siezed the action. I have been waking up, dreading to see a thick carpet of snow though my window every morning. All clear here up to now.

Anyone know anything about this 'STORM' we are supposed to be getting early tomorrow morning? On the national forecast this morning the animation was showing heavy snow over much of the south and heading into the Midlands yet nothing is showing on the local forecasts at all in Sheffield.
Is it coming or what?

The last few day's have been interesting. Nobody has been able to forcast this LP System that will skirt with the Uk. What looks like happening. Colder air is going to come down from the North. It's going to be canny cold.
Tomorrow Morning there is a good possibility for Snow.Mainly above 150m.
Then for next week it's looking that Milder conditions will come in,and it will be mild for most on the big day.

Snowing heavily all morning and still going strong in my part of Kent but fairly high up where I am. Starting to settle very lightly on cars and the grass but the ground is waterlogged after all the rain so wont settle for long.

Think that's it for the 2011 cold snap....ATM very slight chance of a White crimbo for Northern England. January will hold the best Winter weather.

Well snow has finally arrived in parts of the alps.
Ski resorts closed, power out, roads closed, races cancelled, Avalanche risk 5/5.
Wish I was there.
In the lakes they have a ski lift and the snow, and drifting snow means they had to spend all of yesterday digging the drag lift out. 5 or 6 feet high snow!

Apparently within 10days we can expect a good amount of snow all over the UK. Well that's the heads up I'm getting in work at the mo (I'd hope to think it was accurate as it's local government, and surely they'd need to know before hand... )

I hope so, i feel disappointed that we havent really had a winter down south, i think i have had to use the scraper 2 times in total and only had any sign of snow once.

Not in Austria but how do you get a snow plough to do this?
