Now come on Jack,
EVERYBODY knows that due to your affection towards them, you've got a special iphone that has a better reception that everybody else's!
I'm sure you could travel to the moon, and still get a good reception.......
"Hi, Jack here. Two things that you need to know - I'm calling you from the moon. Cool eh? Even BETTER......... did you know I've got an iphone???"
please take in the light-hearted jest it is intended - I'm more shocked that nobody's really taken the p1ss out of Snazy: the Blackberry evangelist!!!

iPhones are well known for not having as good reception as other phones.... the fanboys won't admit it, but in the real world it's the truth. Still as long as you look cool eh?

I was on T-mobile with my HTC and have moved to O2 with IPhone and for whatever reason the iPhone signal/reception/call quality etc seems much better to me.
Also, they did a hard reset on mine to try and resolve the faulty camera and led flash which failed so they are replacing my handset as soon as they get another in stock.

I have had something like a 30% fail rate in moving the slider to answer a call when locked. Googling the problem suggests I'm far from alone with non-responsiveness of rhe slider when the phone is ringing. Also had the phone app crash so i was unreachable for half a day before I noticed. Installed ios5 so maybe this will fix it without introducing too many new probs. A phone that doesnt answer calls isnt much different to a house brick! The rest of the device is great, as said.

That's ok, your new notification bar looks like a cheap rip off what android has had for years.
Btw apple has recently patented nfc, despite it being on phones for a good 2-3 years lol.
Anyway has your phone exploded yet?
Reception on the nexus is just stellar, did a speedtest over hspda and i got a consistent 6kbps dl and 2.3kbps ul with 130ms ping.
Downside is you really need an unlimited package with this phone, it just screams through your data if you aren't careful.

On one hand you moan about patents - which take years - and on the other you mock Apple for using something similar, which one is it?
I think you're data connection is almost as fast as mine if we're ***** waving, and luckily I'm on unlimited data.

The thread seems to have lost its direction a little.... hi-Jack
I am going to give an S2 a test for a week or two.
For the record in all seriousness, its not intended nor likely to replace my Blackberry any time soon. And the bit about RIM folding soon was said in jest to please others, and seems to have worked lol.
As amazing as the iPhone series is I wont be buying one any time soon.

Be a shame if rim did fold, as they do bring something different to the table.
Everyone needs a good ******* now and then.

I believe rim will recover they had a bad time with the play book, they need to ditch it and stick the the handsets they have been producing, there is clearly a market for those

Recently switched from an iPhone to a Galaxy S2. It's so much better. Faster, much more reliable, really nice screen (bigger that the iPhone), much better web browsing experience, better email, better battery life, etc. Not found a single feature that I had on the iPhone that isn't already on the Android phone (or that can be easily downloaded). Mostly the Android version seem to be as good (if not better). Add to that, I don't get classed as a sheep/lemming any more
Only downsides I have encountered so far really is that some of the apps don't look quite as polished as the Apple ones, and the Google store isn't as good as the Apple store. On the other hand, it means I don't have to use that awful resource hogging, bug ridden pile of poo that is iTunes

I also find the browsing experience to be pretty much on par with the s2.
No doubt the s2 has a better screen that's a definite however the reason I moved is because I do like I tunes so that was a big plus for me

Are you using Ice Cream now? Really wanna know what the differences are between Gingerbread and IceCream, from a user view.
Interesting comments there Iain. One thing Apple do excell at is clean and polished looking apps. But functionality and fuss are important too. I get the impression that as Android increases its market share, the developers are keeping up with it. If only they would for Blackberry too lol.
That said, it will be interesting to see Android apps appearing on my Playbook shortly.

I find the web browsing experience better on the S2 for a few reasons. Firstly the larger screen makes it easier to read stuff. Secondly, I've found that pages load faster, especially when the signal isn't too great. The fact that it supports flash is very useful at times (especially when trying to locate a shop when out and about, and their website requires flash to navigate around it - grrrr).
The camera is also excellent and much better than that on the iPhone. Not that I'm that bothered about it, (I have a SLR which I use regularly), but it's handy to have at times.
the reason I moved is because I do like I tunes so that was a big plus for me
Do you use a Mac (I hear it's ok on Apple operating systems)? Try running it on Win7 64bit. It's as buggy as a buggy thing from planet buggy. Nasty, vile piece of software. Apple need to employ some decent Windows coders
Very impressed with the S2 so far, and I see no reason to ever go back to an Apple device. Looking forward to seeing ICS at some point
