Just fit the 5th gear from a JDM STi for motorways and steady driving .
"agreed but newage parts are much stronger than classic parts and will cope with the higher power much easier".
The basic chassis is strong enough in the two door shell. Just get an uprated engine rebuild by API.

450bhp, a 6 speed and 1293kg P1 = pretty nippy (348bhp per tonne- more than a 911 GT2 ) vs newage/Spec d at 400bhp /1495kg = 267bhp per tonne. Spec D makes for a good sleeper mind.

the r180 type r diff will be 4.44 ratio and not compatible with the six speed uk and jdm boxes ,i think from memory jdm were 3.9 rear diff and uk are 3.545.
i hope somone can elaborate on this for you or start a new thread.
the search fuction is very usefull and lots of threads exist on six speed conversions.

P1. Pi$$poor offering by Prodrive. (take a type r n **** it up ). Don't mention the quality paintwork and spoliers
Type R. Jap spec car with all the goodies
