A well sorted motor, shouldn't go wrong with that one, but just remember it is a modded car so reliability might come into question later down the line unless you keep on top of it,

One thing to note is that the car is currently mapped for 20% meth, you'll need to run it on that or get it remapped for the fuel of your choice. You will lose power if you go down the latter road.

Have you looked into the insurance yet? Some folks really struggle to get insured on Modified Scoobs.

i will never buy another modified scooby again,i had a herrific exprience in 2010 with a classic model,id recommend a standard wrx import or a turbo 2000 uk car if uve never had one 220-240 bhp is a good start and i no it costs money but modifying yourself, you will always have that peice of mind that its been done properly

from 10 years of driving performance cars mate i got a couple of tips for you buddy.
when you jump into your scoob if you buy it dont just think if you put the foot
down you will be able to handle the power.
drive it normaly for a week or two just to get the feel of the car and how it handles.
your 200bhp desiel is a driving miss daisy car even with 200bhp and
the scoob is like driving a steriod induced pitbull with a chain for a leash.lol

about seven years ago my mate bought a white evo 6 tommy mac edition
with 370bhp and it was the nicest evo i have ever seen.
he spent 14k buying it and 1k getting all the services and things like that.
he thought he could handle the car and would nail the car at every oppertunity like a total tw@.
within a month of buying the car he had lost control of the evo at 90mph
in a 30mph main road managed to slow down to around 75mph and
hit a lampost side on.
him and the passengers walk away from the crash with minor injurys
god only knows how they got out of that crash relitivly unharmed.
and i wish i had taken a photo of his car because it was in the shape of a bannana after he crashed it.

my mate was a total idiot and was lucky nobody died.
so my advice is if you get the scoob treat it with respect and learn to
drive it properly before putting the foot down.

i have had a couple of hairy moments in my cars myself before.
my driving experiance kicks in with moments like these and
i am no longer acting on how to get out of a sticky situation
but more of a reaction and doing thing without having to think about doing them
( changing up or down gears or braking )
most of these times is when a bad driver was going to crash into me.
but with 13 years driving and 10 of them with performance cars
i have never had a accident scrap or bump.
and this is because i took the time to understand the
performance and handling of the cars i drive.

and if you buy a scoob i hope you enjoy it as much as
i enjoy mine

The faster the car, the slower and more measured your inputs need to be IYSWIM.

The greates myth perpetuated about these cars is that they can break the laws of physics: they can't. In a war between you and Sir Newton, he wins - always!!

When I got my first Scooby (back in 2004), the previous owner gave me a bit of good advice. "Enjoy it, but keep in mind what the dealer who sold me this car said to me: Impreza owners tend not to have too many offs, but when they do, they are big ones!"

You have miss read me mate, you asked if it was a good idea a newbie to buy a high powered impreza to which I said yes but pop some details up so we could give you some advice to which you declined. I tried to tell you that without a link to an ad we could not look it over and make sure all supporting work had been carried out and by who to make sure you were not going to be done over. Not biting your head off at all I even said I hope you enjoy the car.

As for knowing the car you stated a high powered impreza and the only high powered car I know of for sale on here at the minute is Stan's 480 bhp hatch but it turns out after multiple people telling you this thread is pointless without a link. So you pop up a link for a car running (no disrespect to the current owner) but an average 360 odd bhp hardly high in my book, personally I don't know the owner or the car so can't foment but it does look well cared for and coming from a diesel I'm sure you will love it.

Best of luck

Saxo vtr to my V2 STi myself. Difference in power blew my mind initially. Can't really say I'm used to it yet, or anywhere near being able to handle it. I don't drive like a loon though

Planning to do some advanced driving courses before upgrading to something 300+

+1 for Troll. How old are you bang bang? Still quite young judging by the text speak in your posts. Sorry a rant for another day when you have to decipher others threads due to lack of spelling ability.

by the way he was going on about this highly modded car,i was expecting to see a rocket ship.no offence to the guy selling it as it looks a realy nice motor.i love all this chat about be carefull, get driver training, wrap yourself in cotton wool before you get in it.ffs if you want the car,and you have the money to buy it.go have a look at it and buy it.it doesnt matter what power a car has,it will only go as fast as your right foot tells it to.
there thats me getting into the xmas spirit

There's me thinking £1200 was a lot

Funny thing is I've done quotes for R33/34 GTR's and EVO FQ360's and they came out quite a bit less (£350 to £500 less) than my wagon. Wish I knew what that was all about.

Default Go for it but keep your wallet full and ready to be emptied

My two pennorth - I had a couple of modified Supras before I had my Prodrive STI and the difference was more than noticeable. Particularly acceleration because of the awesome torque even on the lower power Scooby engines. I can do 2.24sec to 64ft now Ive got about 350 horses and beat many other cars at the starts at Sprints. They catch up though unfortunately! But go for it if its already modified and you can afford it, just take the first 100 miles or so a bit easy. If you arent completely sure where your and the car's limits are, its easy to get it wrong and visit the armco unexpectedly. If its been owned and/or recommended by the guys on here, you should be safe, its the only Scooby forum where they (mostly) dont talk crap.

PS - my husband will prob read this post and may comment, as I am at work and should be concentrating and not browsing Scoobynet.

PPS Respect to Scoobyclinic BTW for the awesome work on my humble truck for the last few weeks. I couldnt believe how many components there are in a six speed box when its taken apart. And their SC42 turbo is definitely the business. Saving up for engine rebuild now though.
