Shaun, we were on quite a tight budget to do the engine and so on and as the car was licenced and the owner was "going to be careful" we didn't add the run in map.

Remapping costs 400 quid or so with an existing licence and we charge that as soon as we map, even if we only do a run in. The customer is then advised to come back in 1000 miles for the final session. Customers have a habit of going off somewhere else or not bothering to come back for the full map, so we make sure we get paid, that usually guarantees that they come back and we get to make sure our engine is mapped properly.

In this case the urge to see what it will be like overcame Dave and he is where he is now. We'll listen carefully to it and hopefully no real harm has been done. It ought to take it as it has proper parts in the engine but the original map was done by god knows who and could be miles off the pace.

Wow. Anything over 350 for a 34 is fab. 360 is pretty much as good as it gets!

I reckon the easy breathing of the huge RCM/K&N cone helped.

You obviously have a 'good' responsive engine though, that takes well to mods/mapping - a bit of pot luck on that front. Plus, obviously, the mercurial Pat H.

What's peak boost and held boost; I don't suppose you have a graph for that?

The roller trace is a bit wiggly not sure why - maybe a bit of wheel spin or something. I think that the 360 is a tad optimistic. BUT; the following car that ought to have made 340 made 337 and had a similar trace - a bit wiggly.

So not sure what we'll start again after Xmas looking at the rollers and see if there is something that might explain the wiggles.

Even so a good result for Dave and apart from the exhaust falling to bits the car hasn't apparently suffered from the events earlier this week.

How you can run it in for all that time and not wait another 3 days before giving it the beans AFTER its mapped is beyond me.

Now I know why some engine builders dont offer a warranty. They must crap it when they hear things like this.
Give the lad a break.

Hi Dave if you have OBD reader try have look for error. You are running STi Up pipe?If yes can be problem of EGT error which can be easy removed.
If not your lambda sensor has gone which can be case in both scenarios, but without the OBD reader its lucky guess

Happy new year and enjoy

EGT-Exhaust gas temperature usually is located in Up pipe and Lambda sensor is located in your headers

Here is good thread about the EGT

http://rusubaru.com/egts-101/

And about the Lambda sensor, your Lambda sensor is something like Air/Fuel ratio sensor and this mean if you have faulty Lambda sensor you are running Rich and this means you can have bad fuel consumption/MPG

here is location of Front O2 sensor(Lambda sensor),new cost around £90
