Wiley did you need any arch work done & what is the handling like? Your rear arches look like they have been pulled out?

arch work is definitely necessary for going 9.5, you can either get them rolled. or in my case, cut the arch lip. handling was great, no rubbing at all.
only thing you'll get if you lower your car as much as i did, is to be very careful with your exhaust and sump catching bumps

You reckon 17" x 9J's would be fine or would arch work be needed? Are your ones original Rota Grids plus would you know how much they weigh?

Cheers

arch work would be advisable for lowered cars on anything past 8.5j

18x9.5s require
.arch rolling
.stretched tyres.
.coilovers (ideally)
.camber bolts (optional)

18x9s require
.235/225/40/18 tyres
.arch rolling
.camber bolts (optional)

18x8.5s require
.225/235/40/18 tyres
.arch rolling

And your splitter, then your bumper when you've ripped you splitter off, and your skirts, and your subframe...

So on a 2005 STI, with the wider rear track and arch lips like the hawkeye, if you fitted 9.5j rims, you wouldn't need to roll the arches? just streched tyres, coilovers and camber bolts. Would there be any issues?

there shouldnt be any issues , most of the later cars with the plastic arch overfenders late blobs and hawks there are no lips on the arch its already rolled in .
