Took more illegal drugs than I care to remember when I was younger.

E, acid, speed, smoked some weed - don't like marijarna. Tried cocaine once, I didn't pay for it thankfully as it would have been a waste of money.

Good times back then, too old for that **** now.

I tried some magic mushrooms about 17 years ago when I was 16.

Me and my mates decided it was a good idea to watch the horror movie
the fly while tripping.

O.M.G it was absolute madness we were practicly crawling the walls.

Lesson learnt ( dont watch horror movies while tripping )

18-27 was a blur to me. Im now 37 and I like to have a laugh reminiscing about the good old days.
If it wasnt for my job i'd probably still be dabbling.

It's nothing like needing them to have a good time, some people just like to go that extra mile to have MORE fun.
For some people it's drinking, others it's taking pills or smoking dope.

For me it was the latter.

I am sure some people use drugs thinking they are a guarenteed 'good time' but most drugs, alcohol included don't work that way. Some being a depressant drug will just shift your mood further into a slump.
The same with mood enhancers, if you are a miserable swine, ecstacy is not a magic cure for being sad and dull.

P.S - that's not aimed at you, just a general response.

Tried them all together back in the day and with a bottle of poppers which was mad. I stopped taking them as I preffered a good night sleep. Most people I know who take drugs now is usually for say a stag weekend as you can drink as much as you like and still remeber everyting.

Poppers, forgot about them, bought some in a Gay club in Manchester once, went with j4ckos mate and another lad, j4ckos mate spent most of he visit explaining how he wasnt gay to anyo ne who would listen

We just danced like ***** and took in the sights, like a "woman" in a leotard, who I later saw getting royally buggered in the bogs, I must have gawped as "she" said "what the **** are you looking at", actually I am looking at an unconvincing tranny being bummed in a club toilet not something I see every day.

We were dancing with this girl and she kept telling us to sniff her lighter, I was wondering why but she said its full of poppers, got an idea of what it was about so went and bought some, got home and forgot about them and found them a few days later, remember it being good fun but just turns you into a **** monster and gave me some strange thoughts and dreams afterwards.

We were lucky enough to have a club called golddiggers which was really taking off in the early 90's. Loads of top DJ's every Friday. Universe held a few big raves quite local too which were at the time mind blowing! China whites were my poison of choice although I took everything else too. Never really got into weed. Don't regret taking them and as said I have loads of good memories from those days. Twenty years ago today I was coming back from Exeter after fantazia....20 years!!!

Did you miss out...

Well to be honest if you were at the right age back then, like most of us on here probably were, and if you didn't take part in probably one of the biggest youth/culture revolutions the country has ever seen then you did miss out yes (I hope you didn't miss out tbh).

Nothing came close to the feeling of those early E's, they changed our culture, from soccer hooligans to smiley faces. Good times, I miss them, but proud I took part.

I always look back and wonder when the next revolution will take place, I feel sorry for the kids these days that missed out - this was an underground movement that came out of nowhere and captivated millions of people. All off the back of a little pill and a new style of music! What have they got now, X Factor, Cher Lloyd, Little Mix, oh dear...

Thing is, my mates were generally not into that kind of stuff, "Studenty bollocks" or "Empty heads" they called them, I was at college so was exposed to it but generally went out with my mates to fairly straight laced clubs like Quaffers in Bredbury or Fridays in Didsbury, we were the right age and I was up for it but they were never into going anywhere different, cant say I didn't enjoy it but I guess we did miss out a bit. Went on a couple of decent lads holidays though.

I went to the Hacienda once, was about 15 or 16 and went with a mate form school, his dad was a journo and he knew loads of people, he knew New Order and the bouncers just waved him in, was pretty quiet, I got mullered on Red Wine and wanted to be at home, remember Grandmaster Flash being blasted out whilst I tried to sleep. Never went back, would have one but it wasnt on the agenda for my mates later on and my mate I went with got into classical music and went a bit strange,

Quafers was full of gear.... I got barred for life from there, the one and only place i have ever achieved that..

Fridays was good...Had many a great night...

Hacienda was ok,and seen many bands there early on...Never bothered going when it all became "trendy".......

As i got a bit older, just started going to Castlefields and all the surrounding pubs and bars..
Then had a time drinking around Didsbury village for a few years...

Nowadays i hardly bother going out or drinking....I have had more than enough drugs (illegal and legal) in my lifetime..

Never saw anything in Quaffers but can imagine it wasn't out in the open, was a weird place that, always used to go for a couple before in the Firkin next door (think it was called that), then into the club past Pete the doorman with the big Cigar, they had a rigorous dress code, I had to go and change once as it didn't meet with his approval, just got in the car and went and changed, came back and he let us all in for free due to me not being an **** about it. I remember the thuderbirds theme when they got the dancefloor to raise out of the floor for some hapless bird to have birthday humiliation or some raffle, remember one drunk bird getting her (ample) knockers out and waving them about. I remeber the Roast Beef butties at the end of the night, expensive but awesome.

Did you ever get to the Valley Lodge near the airport, that was our main haunt, the carpark has many happy memories for me, surprised that a J4CKO tree hasn't grown

Although the wacky baccy war sampled i never went any further than that.
The lad i lived with at Uni is living evidence of the darker side of drugs. He turned up fresh faced, a little bit swatty and never really went further than a pint of John Smiths. He had an argument with his Dad on the phone one night an basically said **** it why not when offered some speed that same night. I left Uni a week later but 2 or 3 months later i went back to visit. The house stank, he was way behind on his Uni work, his skin was horrible and the only thing he was interested in was the next night out and what he could shove down his throat. I never saw him again and don't know what happened to him but i wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in the gutter.

That sums things up quite well. There was a little 'revolution' with the music, underground rave scene and yes the drugs which were a big part of it.
Interesting comment about football hooligans, I suspect like you E had a big part in seriously killing that sort of thing off. All the guys who used to get p6ssed and then try and batter each other were all suddenly hugging at raves

One of the funniest things that ever happened to me when I was first at a rave....I was dancing away and a huge black guy taps me on the shoulder and has a menacing look on his face. I sort of signal a sorry assuming I has bumped into him and turn away to avoid confrontation.

Anyway he taps me on the shoulder again and this time is sort of beckoning with his hands in a sort of 'come on then lets fight'

Now I'm really worried, this guy is twice my size and I'm not in a fit condition to fight anyway and my mates are nowhere to be seen.

Anyway, he gets right in my face, stares right at me and says..."lets dance" Wtf? What could I do? It would have been rude to refuse so I start dancing with this guy. My mates return and look gobsmacked when they see me brocking out with some huge black guy who is also blowing a horn (ooer) by the way. Hilarious. Anway, after that I 'got' the whole rave thing and couldn't get enough.

i agree a weekend clubing started with lots of txt's and phone calls mid week.as to where we when going.and sorting out party prescriptionsthen the pre-party.the trip to the club could be adventure just to get therethen banging tunes all night where it got really messy.followed by the post-party and maybe a bit of dirty backender sex.i was lucky as i had loads of big raves being held close by at wisbech and kings lynn not forgetting all the illegal raves as well.
but the main clubs i went to were the white house at newmarket, hollywoods, pams and house club uk in ipswitch, coco loco ramsey, passion at emporium coalvile, progress in Derby
and more tea vicar in cambridge

pmsl @ comments like 'your lifes **** if you take drugs' you narrow minded bafoons

nowt wrong with a bit of mdma, if you did your homework youd find it was safer then a lot of stuff you'd chuck down your neck on a regular basis. the trouble is the stuff it gets mixed with nowadays, your lucky to find a tab with 100mg + of it in and with the whole mcat / fertilizer thing a lot of people stopped selling it and sell fertilizer now instead..great! so you wont find anything like the old skool tabs nowadays but some good ones do make their way over from time to time.

if you know how to do things properly your alright, but few people do and end up getting sold/taking all sorts resulting in bad times/death and bad press towards substances such as mdma

Agreed, the "Drugs are bad mmmm, kay" thing is a bit simplistic, alcohol is a drug, just a legal and accepted one, on e that causes a lot of detriment to society and individuals, I am not so naive
to think that Ecstasy is without side effects, drawbacks and potential for death/injury but it does seem to be relatively safe, I think if you never do anything then why bother living ? not saying everybody should do drugs but we all need a little bit of risk and take calculated gambles, alcohol definitely is one such gamble, I myself tripped and fell due to being bladdered and cut my hand, grazed my knee but its all considered good harmless, honest, boozy fun, when its not its just familiar, in reality its me abusing alcohol and injuring my stupid self, if I had been one acid it would be a drug related injury and treated differently.

I did acid once and it was great, I only took half a microdot, the proper sixties original, I read up on it beforehand in this book,

http://www.amazon.com/Storming-Heave...450280&sr=1-10

It was great as I still had one foot in reality so I didn't freak out, went for a walk and saw all sorts of mad stuff, a Bungalow looked like some mystical cottage, I really think it is an experience people should have,

Trouble is, ignorance, stupidity and greed, ignorance of the masses busily swilling 100 units a week of alcohol and being terrified of "drugs", stupidity of those that throw anything down their necks with no knowledge of what they are taking, greed of the supply chain cutting and substituting to make more money. I think some drugs cant really be done on an occasional basis, from what I can see Heroin and Crack are just too addictive and compelling, I think individuals need to understand what they are taking, I think speed is probably best avoided by older people or those not in good health, ditto Coke, anything that raises respiration and blood pressure, I personally don't want to blow a gasket, Coke is the number one reason for hospital admissions with chest pains for men over thirty.

I think drugs attract hedonists, not always the smartest, those after a high at any cost, those that are greedy, those who end up as addicts and all the legislation, the "image" problem with drugs are due to misuse, not use, I think intelligent people who fancy a high occasionally or a relaxing smoke are unfairly penalised.

With all drugs I think you need to realise that there is always a down to go with the high, the more you take, the worse you will feel, we aren't designed to feel that fantastic, euphoric and high for ages, they all tend to work by frigging brain chemistry, MDMA, batters your Seratonin levels, mood chemicals, basically release loads of it so you feel fantastic, basically it stands to reason that you will feel bad the following day if you have released all your good mood stuff, cant really comment as I haven't done it but I do believe there is always an equal and opposite reaction too any high, will vary based on many factors but there is no such thing as a free ride.

I think less is more with most substances as well, I dont feel any better after ten pints than after a couple, think you just are then storing up more pain for the following day, I remember people taking (or saying the had taken) 15 E's, surely that is pointless and just hammering it for no additional gain, seeing as you only have one set of body systems to process it ? Too much weed turns people into zombies, but a bit of a spliff really is quite nice when I used to partake.

Just use your brain, try a bit, see what happens, imagine how dull the world of music would be if nobody had taken drugs ?

That would be Kels at the four seasons, went once, cant remember much about it. Went to Brasingamens once as well, pulled a really fit, posh bird, ended up with her clamped to my face in there, she then tired of me and went and grabbed some other hapless bloke and started snogging him, I spoke to one of her mates and she said she had been doing it all night, apparently I was number 3, bleeagh !
