Ask David about an NS04 esque 470 package.... then Evos will trouble you no more.... until you come up against one in an even higher state of tune and then ask David about an even bigger and more expensive conversion, repeat ad bankruptcy!
There will always be quicker cars mate. Enjoy what you have and spend money elsewhere now!

What do you get out of beating another car on the road? Does it make your ***** bigger?
I used to be the same.........then I grew up.
Now I don't give a stuff who over-takes me and what they are in.
My licence is far too important to me to start risking it in ***** waving competitions.

It's VERY expensive at that level mate.
And after all that, you'll eventally come across someone who's had a 2.35 done and then you'll want that... My advice, accept you don't have the fastest car in the world, realise that it's too fast for 90% of the traffic on the road and enjoy it!

Your funny, there will always be someone faster with a bigger willie, learn to live with it, and learn how to get the best out of what you have, so many people go chasing power and they can't really handle what they have.
Run your car for a while enjoy it, develope your driving skills with track days, understand the cars limitations and your own, and start saving for your next one.
Then in a few years grab yourself something like a spec c, stick a bigger turbo on it and 450 no problem.

its not about beating cars really "although its better than loosing " but more about the fact that my car just doesnt do it for me !! the accelaration and pull just doesnt satisfy ? i guess better brakes are needed so i can keep power down a bit longer ? well im 29 and soon to be getting a flat and all that so once im settled i guess ill get an ra classic and get saving for a proper project thread when my knowledge about all things subaru has improved !!
but i want it now

All classic needs is , proper brakes, gear box and forged engine with twin scroll set up. Probably will cost same as blob with all the mods. 350/350 . You'll feel alive again, trust me. Very usable power from down low to high end. I had a chance to test Woody's one on here. Awesome!

I had a classic with a 340/340 set up. Great car, but hand on heart I prefer the Hawk and -higher weight and all- even with just the PPP kit and remap, the hawk would have pulled away from the classic due to the low down grunt.
The light weight certainly helps, but the lack of refinement in a classic does hoodwink you into thinking that it is even faster than it is..... which is very fast at that level!

I'd like to see a Hawk pull away from a properly setup classic with 340/340 with the Hawk only having a ppp kit and remap

It wasn't decisive, at the kind of power/weight differences we're talking here, it wouldn't be. But the hawk had the early legs on the classic because of the lower spool point of the turbo and the bigger torque! From then the classic never caught up, just held ground.
Trust me, I've owned both and my classic was a belter: a VF 35 with all the supporting mods and a confirmed 340/340!
People think the weight advantage counts for more than it actually does with the classic. The new ages have things like shorter ratio boxes, VVT (and other engine trickery) and greater capacity to get the turbo working sooner. What gets you the edge in a road car is big torque and early spool; that's why some diesels are deceptively quick!
A 340 classic feels rabid because it's much more of an all or nothing delivery and it has very little refinement compared to a new age with a 2.5 that has guts everywhere and spools from nothing and is also more refined. Much as I hate to admit it, there is something to the yank saying that there aint no replacement for displacement!
