David, I take everything that is said on SN with a pinch of salt. The ones I really know, do not "***** wave", even though they probably have cause to. The ones who do "***** wave", I would need to see proof to believe most of the stuff they post

The misses and me go to Cebu phillipines
Flights are £600-£800 each depending on bargains available
Fortunely the misses has a house over there so accommodation is free but we have to treat and feed all her extended family to coffee meals and shopping trips
She normally spends a grand Including petrol
I take the brothers and nephews to the lap dancing clubs and discos and spend about £300
We always buy all our clothes there as they are quarter of the price of the uk which saves a lot long term as well for us
This year we are off to Adelaide Aussie to see the boy who has just moved out there sop another 3k holiday
The misses saves all year from her pt job to go on holiday
We normally do a poverty package 3day brake in Blackpool too for £200 all in

Tbh, Trouty I'm surprised that you are surprised. Actually I'm more surprised that you are not one of the people who spends that amount of money. I mean you live in what looks like a mansion (though it is Yorkshire I suppose
![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
So I'm pretty sure you can afford it but I presume it's just not something that you are that interested in and choose to spend your money in other ways (or you are just a tight fisted git

By the way I'm not ***** waving as I defo don't spend £15k every year, last year was about £5k. But there have been years where I've spent that and will do it again from time to time

As me and my partner own our own businesses we tend to work (7 days a week) a lot so we tend to take long holidays when we can. Last year we did:
10 days in Teneriffe with some friends - not my sort of thing but was surprisingly good.
9 days in Antigua - Beautiful place amazing people and awesome diving!
4 days in Antigua - Stayed all inclusive at a romantic resort to have some R+R while we waited for friends. Would never to all inclusive again. Hated it!
14 days in the BVI's -We chartered a yacht and sailed around Tortola. Best holiday ever! AMAZING diving and lots of floating bars! Check out scrub island!
7 more days in Antigua at a beach resort with a few friends.
We always plan and book our own holidays, fly on the quieter days and contact hotels direct for the best rates. On holiday we generally hire a car so we can go do many activities when we want to without paying for tour fee's

Used to spend about £10k a year for holidays for the two of us, now after getting a house and mortgage again and having a few very disappointing holidays in terms of weather, travel delays and general crapness have nothing overseas intended for the forseeable future. Was going to do a round the world trip last year, but colleague's husband had an MI and then was due a bypass when we were going to go, and ended up buying a house instead of taking a few months off work to travel. I suppose with kids you'd need to do something. Center Parcs sounds like an expensive nightmare, it was only the posh kids from school that went there when I was a kid and it first started up. Now it sounds like a chav haven.

It wasn't so much the cost, it was more that "always" implies many "dinghy holidays in the Med" have been had and given that the criteria is so specific and also that hodgy has five children I'm curious as to how it all ties up. I'm sure it does.
