I've got a 2002 bug with a fair few mods running 380 plus with methanol injection, 6 speed conversion, EXE-TC suspension and 12 pots / Carbotech on the stopping front, smattering of carbon and STi bits.............I doubt if it will make £5 k in todays climate

im sure it would fella ! i know you loose money modding but people know how much modding costs so if they are planning on carbon bonnet ? 350bhp+ nice 18s etc etc ? and yours fits the bill ? then they will pay slightly over the odds for it cos they saving in the long run .

Seriously mate, in this climate, I'd keep it if you can! If you sell it, you're gonna lose quite a bit of money. We'll see it as worth it, but we're in the minority - the buying public see it as a modified 10 year old car. I reckon if you put it for sale, you'll get 5k if you're lucky, but have to fend off a lot of silly offers first!

You won't see £6000 for it in my opinion though. £5K maybe.

Keep it, bolt a proper turbo on and have the car you thought it was gonna be. If you had smoked that Evo the other night would you still want to sell it...I think not.
Have only read up to this post so not sure whats after, but matty your normally on the money bur i have to dissagree, no way will you see 5k you'll be very lucky to get 4k.

Its a bug wrx at the end of the day and they go for 2.5/2.8k and if you find the right buyer you may get 3.5k

sorry, but there is no more on the car than should be there.

I fear you may be right with your £4K, we can only hope that a buyer is willing to pay over the odds for a freshly built engine.

I think somewhere getting towards 5K is possible when you consider the engine is still under warranty etc. would need to remove that awful carbon sticker from the bonnet though.
Somebody out there may just pay the extra for the piece of mind. I'd start off with a really well written advert and a price of no more than £4995, but expect to take less.

Initial D, you said you have a few people lined up who said they would buy the car if you ever wanted to sell,
It's very easy for people to say that but when it comes to actually getting the cash out it's a different story.

All you can do is put it up for what you want mate and hope you find a person who really likes it.

The old saying "It's worth what someone will pay for it" applies.

the usual rule at the moment is that Impreza's are worth more in parts than as a complete car so add up what its worth if you broke it and that'll give you a realistic figure.

i know your spec mate, but what i mean is, it's an engine and a turbo, how old and what size and power ect is irrelevant at your level.

It's what it should have on it if you get my meaning.

Modded cars are not popular, you only have to listen to 90% of people that come on here looking for a car, they all want 10000 miles 1 owner standard 30 year old car lol never thrashed never used in the wet lived in a temp controlled garage and the oil changed every weekend, with main dealer fsh and if it's a mile over due then it's no good.

You get my drift.

you have a cat in hells chance of getting 6k for a bug wrx unless its running 500+bhp done by RCM

I'm really sorry to say that to you because i have watched what you have been through as well as having been there myself twice, thats why i'm breaking my £20k type r that i would not see £5k for.

Just keep it.

if you want your money out of it find a cheap wrx lump and a td04 drop them in and sell all your goodies seperatly.

You'll get 1.5k for your engine and 500 for your turbo.

Have to agree with the above, 4k max.

Ive seen VF turbo'd bugs with brembos going for 3k recently albeit without the rebuild.

At the end of the day it is a nine year old car
Next year ten years old simple
Mots read and 20 mpg and petrol aproroaching £7 a gallon
Not a one owner unmolested example like my unused Standard classic in my garage wrapped up in cotton wool getting stored for the future
Modified and rebuilt engine means nothing to a casual buyer ,just a car that's engine has blown up and has been rebuilt
Warranty means nothing to a buyer of a nine year old car
On here you might get 3.5 k
EBay / pistonheads local papers £3k

That's the book price I'm afraid for a buyer
Suggest px your woman and. Have a secret bank acount
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

It's really not that difficult, and there are people that will take one out and put one in for 3/400 quid you will still come out on top by at least £500 on the engine alone, which is not to be sniffed at these days.

If you were near me id show you how, and give you a hand. all the info you need is on here, i bought a 1ton engine crane for £120 off the bay and took my engine out in 3 hours alone in the rain, it took me about 5/6 the first time.

You only need a half decent socket set and a few spanners and i'm talking 4/5 spanners and the same amount of sockets and a jack and crane.

Then stick the crane back on ebay when your done.

You must know someone who can give you a hand.

if the woman is complaining, get her to get another job

its so much money to lose bud. Can you get it off-road and use something more economical. Ive got a **** box to run around in for work and use the scoob for fun times. I pre-warned my new lady about "dont even mention me getting rid of the scoob". She can go before the car does!

Nice well spec'd car imho ... take a standard bug add 25% of the cost of your mods and what do you get? As long as you hook a buyer who understands that it has been well modded hence it's a bargain you will be fine.

As an example though my old 450hp classic sold for £7k yet cost c£20k to get it there ...

Market for performance cars has bottomed out a hell of a lot the last few years.

My Turbo2000 sold for £1900 after 8 months of ownership and buying it for £2500. Currently have WRX classic and paid £2000 for it from dazza9t9 on here. He had spent a small fortune on it in 2 and a bit years. Felt sorry for guy whilst driving away.

Just try not to add up what you spent on the Bug getting it to that spec as you write the advert out.
I dread to think what you would be offered on eBay etc, especially this time of year.

Enjoy it till the spring at least.
