http://www.lancerregister.com/mlrspr...entid=20090308
Scoobs generally <170mph + remember most of em are running serious power.

My approx 450bhp P1 GPS 164mph at 30-130 at a self imposed rev limit of7500rpm in 6th (JDM 6 speed fitted). At which speed bits start coming off the car... My car is in the above 2009 listing under Fat Boy - Sleeper sy's car there had circa 640bhp.
The speedo was pointing absolutely straight down i.e. well past the 160mph marking on the speedo which is at around 4-5 o'clock.
There's probably only a couple of cars maybe 3 that have done 200+ so far - Andy F, the Gobstopper and the Banana?

just to add i didnt want this to end up as a pissing contest, was just curious as to the top speed.. like i said im always being asked...
ive never tried top speed or have any intentions to, same for 0-60.
thanks again for your help.

There is a lot of difference in theory and practice, Theoretically the UK 6-Speed is capaple of 180-190 and its possible to find out if you chuck it on a dyno but its gonna get pretty hot pretty quick, My JDM box is capable of 170(Limited by gear ratio) but will it ever get there, in a word NO, The Impreza is not the most aerodynamical car out there especially with a big scoop creating drag right at the front, The wind resistance you get over 100mph is nowhere near what you get at 150mph so try and imagine what its like at 200, I forget what the calculation is but you would need serious power/torque go get in the 190`s never mind 200

Correct

One thing i was surprised about at 155mph was how smooth and quiet the car felt. In fact it feels more buffered at 100 than it did at 155.
The only time ive ever felt scared and slightly beyond the limit of the impreza handling is when your hard on the gas accelerating then jump on the brakes. The sudden weight transfer make's the car feel quite twitchy.

My 96 STI usual mods & Simtec has seen 160 on the clock & was still pulling when let off. I'm still running 5 speed box, I would imagine similar spec cars with a UK 6 speed would easily see 180, or am I just over optimistic?

the reason why there isnt many recorded 200mph scoobs is because when they are being recorded its nomally only over 1km.it would take some very serious power to top 200mph over that short distance.

Yes you are being very optimistic imho. See my post above - my 450bhp P1 got to 164mph on GPS and the speedo needle was way off the end of the dial. If the dial read that far I'd have guessed it would have been reading circa 180mph. This was on a runway, in admittedly terrible weather conditions (40mph head wind but my car still pulled 7500 in JDM 6th- fairly standard ones won't have the grunt to get to that level in top gear), and speed was maybe still increasing very very slowly when I backed off but I doubt there was much else left, and that's when my roof trims blew off...

As long as my car is capable of 0-100mph in less than 12 secs then who cares what the top speed is. It's a total irrelevance but people are obsessed with asking me the question 'how fast will it go'. Friends with turbo diesels tell me that their car is good for around 150 mph (dream on) but forget to tell me that it takes five minutes and 5 miles of clear motorway to get there.

A standard hawk Sti does 0-100 in around 13 secs (190 bhp/ton).
To run around 10 secs from 0-100 would need 270 bhp ton or around 400 bhp.
My 330 hatch has 220 bhp per ton and does it in a shade under 12 secs.

My speedo goes upto 180. I was talking speedo reading not GPS speedos always over read by a certain percentage. If I hadn't of run out of space on my private road the way it was still pulling I'm sure it would have seen another 5 or 10 mph. Surely with a 6 speed that would be showing near 180 flat out with the extra gear. I'm sure you are right I'm being optimistic & massive power is needed to get near 200 mph,I'm guessing due to percentage error 180 on the speedo is nowhere near that on GPS or through calibrated speed traps.

Ive done 155mph in both the classic (UK turbo) and my old Spec C, both on airfields (indicated), didnt feel anywhere near as scary in the Spec C, infact when I looked down I was a little shocked to see how quick I was going in the "C" rather than the white knuckle ride in the classic

If were talking about gearing and not how fast with the current setup then Skullfudge managed just under 200mph in his P1 at 8200rpm (Think it was 197 to be exact) and his is the 6 speed. I do recall it saying the cars had £70k splashed on it. (Assuming that Total Impreza doesn't tell porkies).
The Hawkeye UK & US has taller gearing, 60mph in 2nd gear rather than 3rd.

I got the speedo in my blob wrx indicating 160 a few years ago. Has anyone noticed how much the bonnet flexes upwards at the edges? I was expecting the bonnet catch to give way at any moment with the hood flipping up and smashing the screen..........
Definitely reckon there needs to be a catch on each side, rather than just one in the middle.

I went for a vmax travelling on the autobahn from Amsterdam to the Nurburgring in the summer.
The subaru official top speed for my GB270 wagon is 145mph, we had back seats down and full of camping gear + a fridge, saw satnav varified 139.2mph but couldn't get past that. Had 95ron fuel in but there was nothing more coming out of it.
200mph in an impreza would require some spuds.
