as far as if it was gonna sink or not, theres no way to tell from pictures and guess work. did the grounding casue it to roll over more and let more wter in, or did it just stop any more roll.

She says that she is relaying a message from the commander.
"We'll resolve the electrical problem that we have with the generator. Everything will be fine. If you want to stand here, it's fine.
"But I'm kindly asking you to go back to your rooms, where you'll be seated and tranquil. Everything is under control."
I reckon that like Pan Am and Townsend Thorensen this will kill this company.

Ship stability is a complicated subject. An oil tanker is absolutely full of liquid, but doesn't sink. Free surface effect is a problem in large spaces, but in calm conditions I can't see this being a problem on a ship like this (unlike the Herald of Free Enterprise, which was of a completely different design).
I still think the reason that the Concordia is lying on its side is because it has been deliberately grounded.

They left the doors open on Spirit free enterprise , they were ignorant of what might happen - but on this occasion shoving her up the beach *was* the right thing to do

As to whether or not beaching the Concordia was the right thing to do, we'll have to wait for the outcome of the enquiry, but at this stage it's not certain that it was the right thing to do, IMO.

The engine compartments on all cruise ships span about 2/3 decks. The ones on my ship certainly span 3 decks in height compared to the compartments forward that only span 1 deck. If both engine compartments were to flood up entirely above 1 deck in height then listing and sinking is deffinately going to happen.

Yes, it should
1) The bulk heads should have gone higher, so that water from one compartment could not spill over into another as the ship listed
2) If the rivets had been of better quality and not just ripped apart then one less compartment might have been compromised which would have been just enough to keep the ship afloat.
