No it's not necessary, only a luxory I would like to have, I would like to think watching the F1 in HD or even a film for that matter on a 50" screen would be pretty good as long as the picture is clean and crisp.

It would be good to have a 50 incher but it would be too big for our little house. 42" is as big as we can sensibly have but that is still pretty good.

No of course it isn't necessary, but the room it's in is quite large and I do watch a lot of movies so as it's something I use a lot why not?

Depends on the UPi rating.

£1K maybe.

But over a 15 year period, the last four main TVs we've purchased have all cost approx £800....even the 29" 50hz CRT trinitron sqaure thing (did have built in surround and sub though).

Where can you get a fifty FOOT screen for £1k ?

50" is the minimum, I'd love a 65".

Sorry Dunkster, I was only looking at F1's criteria. If you are not fussed about screen size, 3D, or a five year guarantee, should be easy in that price guide, or a bit more.

I would only really buy from Richer Sounds, or John Lewis.

Always worth a look around Costco, the tvs come with an excellent 5 year warranty and they have the usual selection of Samsung, Sony, Panasonic etc.
