religion is easily the worst idea in the universe. simply because theres more than one.. although saying that everybody decides for themselves what those books of sh1te mean. also 99% of the above in the first post was in america. shows how clever they are.. while it may offend people i dont trust anybody who needs to belive in some crap to get them through the day.. they'll stake there life that god is real despite absolutly no evidence to support there argument but then tell you the tooth fairy isnt real.. i personally think "god" is best described as faith itself. no magic or right and wrong just the belief that what you think is right.

M-Theory's about as mystical as the human brain can imagine. Physicists are, as far as my reasoning has taken me, at the vanguard in the quest (vocationally) for the external (objective) God and many individuals are in a quest for their (subjective) internal divinity. It's this tension between the objective and the subjective that needs resolving; humanity is striving for synthesis and that's always painful. For anyone interested in progressing towards a resolution, Integral Theory may be of interest.

Religion = bollocks and 99% of wars are caused by religion and all of the wars are caused by the religious extremists but you cant be religious without religion so its all bollocks.
One day religion will consume itself and it will all end very violently lets hope it happens soon so we can get on with more important things like what mod to add to my scooby next

As ever, the atheists will jump on the bandwagon and denigrate all forms of religion, as much as anything to bolster up what they want to believe because that is far more convenient a way to go through life!
Just like any war etc. the conflicts are instituted not by the religions' teaching so much as by people who have a personal aim in life for one reason and another, and they are prepared to use any means, including religion to achieve their own selfish ambitions.
Its not the people who start the wars, it is the political leaders for their own selfish motives.

I'm not sure that being atheist is a far more convenient way to go through life. It is a popular idea that evangelical Christians preach, as though they have a monopoly on morality, sacrifice and hardship.

I think this is scaleable and relative. Someone who's unconciously nihilistic and devoid of a value system probably finds things an awful lot easier than someone like yourself who's consciously atheistic whilst seeking to navigate through life with an accurate moral compass. Likewise I'd guess some Evangelicals find things a breeze within the context of a solid faith and others spend every waking moment in some kind of Bunyanesque 'slough of despond'. And the reason I'd make these guesses is because atheists are human and Evangelicals are human and both are exposed to the same neurological vagaries only within different subjective realities.
