Advice, which Scoob?

I'm thinking of going PPP-less as I'm not sure I'll notice a massive difference. I did do a quote with PPP and non PPP and the insurance barely goes up. And the prices between the two don't seem extremely different..
I shall see. I'm probably being greedy with PPP.

Cheers buddy, I was thinking it sounded a little strange.. I've never heard anyone complain about power out of a corner on a Scooby before, let alone an STi.

Really, I get screwed for insurance and I live in a quiet area, have some modifications on my car, 3 points, over 40, 20+ years of driving and all I can say is that no way in hell at 20 would I have been insured for £1700 quid on a subaru or any similar vehicle, so either the postcode is excellent, he has a really high excess or he is doing something dodgy (or he aint telling you the truth about the other 2k he has to pay )

However I've not used the 6 speed sti. That's probably fine. With the 5 speed I've found there's too much difference between 2nd and 3rd gear ratios in a situation where ideally you want to maintain about 4000rpm. A lot below that and you're lacking torque, so you're either slower going in than you'd like, or sometimes too fast for safety. Then again I'm neither rich nor brave.
And an sti in traffic gets irritating after a while. Anyway, you'll be able to decide for yourself once you've driven a few.

No, i meant carrying too much speed into the corner. that's been my experience on the rural roads near wheree I live, although i do live in pretty much the wettest place in this country.

I can see what you mean now. The older 5 speed STi's did have a bit of lag and longer gears so yes, keeping them around 4000rpm was where the power band was. The Blob Sti's where better, though they still lacked torque low down, which is where the 2.5 in the hawk sorted it. You dont get the same kick in the back with the hawk, but the up side is they are very torquey.
