this makes me sick i work every hour god sends and I dont earn that much in a year and having to pay rent a taxes etc I think ill go stand in my local town and sell the big issue for a nice pay packet but with me being a true brit i would only get half what a immigrant would get.

If i was pm my system would be

cant speak english = **** off
cant understand english = **** off
no proffesion = **** off
lose your uk job and unemployed for 2 months = **** off back
any iraqy immigrant must serve in the uk army to defend there own country same with afgan immigrants
immigrant children must be given a foriegn birth cert not english there would be exceptions
and the list goes on

it maybe harsh but it would be effective and if im politically incorrect who cares our government dont

If you can't type your own language i.e. English properly, stay around. I'll make you a cuppa.

Now, I'd like to question you why you can't spell in your own language "English" properly. Your grammar is worse than mine, too. Is it immigrants' fault as well? Or, is it that popular modern excuse known as Lysdexia? Not taking this thread off the sentiments involved, but the use of poor English by the original English/Briton has always baffled me. I'll be grateful if you can satisfy my query. Many thanks in advance.

There's no such thing as an original Britain/British person... and if Swaynie is claiming this status, well considering his fine example of how a British person thinks and articulates himself... I'd rather say I was Dutch

To be fair with the odd exception poor grammar and spelling are usually only exhibited by those who claim that those nasty immigrants are taling their jobs etc.

Apologies, F1. I didn't mean "all". I only meant to ask why "some" English and rightfully British folks don't use English correctly, and whose fault it is. Sorry, I should have been more attentive in my inquiry.

I understand what you are saying.

Not true actually, outside of the US the two are interchangeable although there is a tendency to use inquire in more formal situations.

Yes it should.

To enquire is to request information and that was what Turbohot was doing by asking a question. The use of inquire generally means to investigate and also as f1_fan pointed out the two can be used, but, inquire used in this context is more of an Americanism, much like "ize" and "ise" and since this topic is generally based (loosely) on "Britishness" I think it is right that "enquiry" is used on this occaision.

Pedant mode on

Sorry, but that isn't exactly what I said. By the dictionary definition in the UK the two are interchangeable. In the US only inquire is used and some there would say enquire is a spelling mistake, but in the UK inquire and enquire can be used and mean the same thing. The only distinction is that inquire tends to be used in a formal situation e.g. a public inquiry

Fair enough. Point taken. Now have it- the one in the bold above should be occasion, not occaision.

I warned this bloke off of reading the Daily Mail, for the sake of his heart. He has chosen to disregard my advice.

I guess it's not a condition precedent although why would home (not homeless) people even do it unless of course it's so they can start to claim YET ANOTHER F*CKING BENEFIT

I'm sorry but get off your **** & start to earn your bloody keep ...

TX.
Hi TX

A few years ago me and my friend were walking in the city centre and there was a
guy selling the big issue he stopped us and said " want to buy the big issue and help me I am homeless "
and my friend looked at the guy who appeared looking a bit wasted from either drugs or booze
and noticed he was not wearing a big issue badge so my friend asked him why he didnt have his big issue badge.
The man replyed " oh I have left my badge at home "

Me and my friend looked at eachother and my friend said to him " well then you are not homeless then are you now **** off "

I thought it was kind of funny because the guy was a total scammer.

I agree fully with you they should be trying to get a job and earn their keep
