Is it actually possible to rid yourself of facebook

Hoy!! -- My surname is surname 'CVNt' : I find your post difficult to understand, as I believe I'm the only 'CVNt' (notice the little 't' on the end - this is the correct usage) on Facebook.

Let me quote you Dave "(see xda-developers to see how easy, or not, that is for your phone - the OP that is ....)"
I gave the correct answer, the app cannot be deleted, if it could the OP would not be here would he. Yes he can go somewhere and learn to hack his phone, which given his security concerns should raise an eyebrow. Using your logic if someone said "Is my Escort a Motorbike" the answer would be yes.

I realise that things happen differently at Apple so best if you keep your advice to that platform ....

Hey Dave, is a tree a chair?
Anyhow. we both know it can be done but we both know you can't just delete it, which was the request.
Now, as you're so clever why don't you fully answer the question and show us all the steps involved in removing Facebook and other Apps you're forced to keep.
If the Apple way gives Carriers and Manufacturers less control over my phone, then I'm happy with that. I care about my security and so do Apple.

You read it how you like Dave, fact remains that unless you hack your phone you're never going to rid yourself of Facebook. So, in answer to the question "Can I rid myself of Facebook" the answer is NO unless you're prepared to delve into the shady world of Android Hacking.
Hopefully this highlights the control that Android users suffer and the security issues they face. Thanks for keeping the thread alive Dave.

He probably does mean that and it's easy as long as you're rooted (see xda-developers to see how easy, or not, that is for your phone - the OP that is ....). In fact when I rooted mine that was the first app to go (I'm not on Fartbook either and never intend to be), then twitter and all the Vodafone and HTC stuff I didn't want. ...

Facebook is like Twitter in that either those dull, boring and juvenile people are your friends or you followed them. In both cases it's you that have the issue not the platform.
