Totally agree, I've had some good experiences from my first garage which was Neil @ Slowboy and I felt happy to leave him good feedback.
After spending so much money and almost going bankrupt on this repair lol, I just wanted the garage to say maybe it was done by accident at least. Not like it's gonna cost that much to repair anyway

I had work done at a big name garage and a week later noticed two locking wheel nut,s were missing when washing the car, rang the garage and he said instantly "not seen em mate". I had to ask him to go and have a look, but no joy..
You would think there would be more care after all it,s our money that keep,s them in business..

Ive heard of situations like this in the past. Very difficult if there's no evidence it was them. If I take mine to the garage I'll take pictures of it the day before with proof of the date just in case

I work at a garage and i can't speak for anyone else who works there but it's a given to me that you are careful with other peoples car.
I would say though i do find it annoying when people bring in a dirty car and then complain when there is finger printers ont he car lol. Obviously you should wipe oil and all off but i don't think it is really my duty to clean your dirty car lol.

Thanks

When the bill comes up to £3k plus, I guess a £5 car wash won't hurt

Biggest issue is proving that it was not there before and assuming you can't I would unfortunately let it go and pop it down to a lesson learnt. Even if you had pictures is still proves nothing as dates on cameras etc can be changed. All you can do next time is try someone else and walk around the car with the owner and almost sign it off and just explain your last garage damaged the car blah blah and then hope they don't do anything wrong.

I guess some garages just don't care about the customer, and all about making money. Next time I'll do what you said and have a walk round with the mechanic before I let him take the keys
Just thought that I could've trusted this garage,
now I need to get my bodywork/alloys sorted, fix the tracking, and sort out this annoying knocking.

More money, but will be going to Neil or rich to sort out my car this time

Mate its horrible to think that garages don't take care or pride in looking after a customer's car, wether you spend 300 quid or 30k every car should be cared for.

Can I ask why you went with a new company and not with the other two you mention?

P.s not looking for a name n shame etc just curious why you went else where

After the engine was fitted by my so called local mechanic, the car wouldn't rev over 3k revs. Got Simon to come down to map my car but said there was a fuelling issue and told me not to drive the car. He then texted me the number for TFS racing and told me to speak to stew who had a low lorry.
Firstly stew said the FPR wasn't fitted properly causing the fuelling issue. But til now, he's never given me a clear reason why it wasn't revving. He just said I need to strip the engine. Fair enough, as I knew there was a problem. And he did get my car running
But it seems there a lot of things he should've noticed, like the very bad rattling/judder and the tracking that is very off. I know he's driven my car to surrey RR twice to get my car mapped.
Again, he said the rattling is caused by the new clutch. Very strange as even on idle it rattles at times. Just don't know if I can believe that now.
But I'm doing a road map with Simon next Tuesday, so at least he' ll be able to give me a second opinion

Wiley,

When ever I saw the car when it was brought over for mapping and when I was in the workshop, it was cared for in the manor you would expect.

The reasons it wouldnt rev were numerous as it turned out and a combination of everything found to be wrong with it.
I am not sure you necessarily want them all listed on here?
To the workshops credit, you do have very wide rims and low profiles on so are likely to get a bit of tramling and pulling to one side on the rims, which if you have never driven your car before you wouldnt necessarily be familar with, the roads between workshop and the rr are fairly traffic heavy also so wont be a cruise on motorway where you are likely to notice tracking out.

Is there no chance the wing was damaged prior to it being collected? was it not dark everytime you saw the car since the local place fitted the engine?

Not taking sides or anything at all btw

Hope you get to enjoy the car, see you next tuesday.

Simon

I can see your point its sooo frustrating when you pay alot of money for someone to fix your car and its damaged. I recently left my car in to get a timing belt fitted and it came back with a large ding on the side. I was ripping but just bit the bullet and got it fixed myself. By the way I think you have the heart of a lion and you must have a very understanding g/frind / wife with the money you have thrown at that car and the fact its your every day car. Goodluck
ps you have certainly put me off tuning my Scoob further just to much hassle. Think I will spend some on my mx5 instead

Sorry to here this but I can't believe we are talking about the same car I saw at Stewart's
For one you surplyed the wrong catch tank and you were informed about this and you did not mention that the wiring loom had been hack to pieces as the inlet had been removed for painting buy you and your answer was I can't get it out so just cut and rejoin loom to do it.
You were shown the worn out bits.
You fail to mention that the spliter that got broken getting on the truck was repaired.
And if that's a car that is taken care of please dont show me a car that you abuse.

GOOD LUCK with the mapping Simon lol

the front splitter was a result of lack of care by myself and i had to pay to get the repair, which kindly stew offered to help by finding a local bodyshop. but the damage was elsewhere, front driver side wing, passenger skirt was loose and passenger front alloy was chipped.
rod tax wise, i did tax it before hand. it was just with me at home waiting for me to pick up the car.
in terms of the bad work that was done on my car before, thats why i needed to take it to a subaru specialist. i knew that there were faults made from the previous mechanic, and had to be corrected by stew. i appreciate stew getting my car running, but just the fact that i know that the bodywork and alloys were immaculate. i saw my car every day before it left on the low lorry. and another member has informed me that this has happened to him before with the same garage.

you have pm simon, see you tuesday

I worked in the motor trade for 20 odd years and always did full vehicle checks before and after and used seat covers.

So you can imagine my disgust when my car had its engine rebuilt by a so called specialist when i arrived to look at the progress only to discover thay had parts from the engine bay on the back seat and in the boot without even so much as a piece of paper to protect the back seat or the boot floor.

Mechanic with dirty overalls/clothes and hands getting in and out of the car and no seat covers no wing protectors and just a total lack of any understanding,so obviously i did not even bother saying anything to them as whats the point.

No suprise it let go a few thousand miles later.

When i recently rebuilt it myself, the heads had obviously never been cleaned despite bearing failure and my having paid for the valve stem oil seals to be done, and bolts were missing or lose all over the engine and bay.

And just to add insult to injury his lad drove the car back to my house and left it in my garage with a chiped bent alloy, which were brand new 2 days before i left the car with them, but obviously it wasn't anything to do with them.

I was also out that way one day in another car and his lad was in front of me in a newly built engined car and was ragging the **** off if, so much so he almost went into the back of a car in front him, fortunatly it had a set of AP's fitted.

So yeah specialist garages, i love em, lol.

Never again will i let some of the muppets that operate within this scene touch my car.

They say you get what you pay for, unfortunatley sometimes you get extras too.

Just in case you didn't notice, it really boils my **** when i think of the money i spent with this tuner, and i was also prat enough to go back there to have a simtec fitted last year, which proved to be the final nail in the coffin of the car, because i thought well they built it, i'd better let them do the new ecu and they have the rolling road and are local.

What a prize mug i was........

And the worst thing is, like so many others, i can't really prove a ******* thing in a court of law, and would spend another small fortune only to lose the case if i tried.

They are free to continue screwing mugs like me..fantastic.

To me the Wheel does not looked curbed.
You say it happened at tfs but ever thought it could happen else where?
Maybe when it went onto the rollers the Side skirt was caught due to the ramp etc, but not hard enough to notice it ground out etc. and possibly the wheel chipped to, and even the wing damaged, due to the equipment and leaning into engine bay to put it oin the rollers.

Im not pointing the blame at simon and SRR just pointing out that if this was the case then TFS may not of seen this and even possibly Simon and SRR if it was an accident.
Just trying to say it may of happened else where
