I used to think the same way. Thing is, it creeps up in you with very little warning. When it happens there seems to be no rhyme or reason why it did.

I had to have a quad bypass which is a bit of a worry, and it was just in time apparently. Luckily I was unable to feel the Skil saw going through my breast bone!

4 grilled Bacon (Wiltshire Dry Cure)
3 grilled Sausages *
Mushies in butter and garlic
Beans in a pan with a teaspoon of butter and cooked until the juice thickens (something like Mushy peas but not as thick
2 x Grilled toms topped with mustard and Tommy K
1 x Fried Egg
Toast
Tropicana OJ
Large Coffee

* The sausages will be from Sainsburys be good to yourself range with 90% meat or Tesco Finest. I usualy buy 6 varieties at once then bag them up 3 at a time and freeze them so each bag is a lucky dip with the possibility of Parmesan and Panchetta, Caramelised Onion, Hickory Smoked, Hand reared Pork, Chilli and Lime and Toulouse.

Tesco did a great sausage a couple of years back Pork and Black Pudding, awesome on the BBQ , sadly they no longer make it.

I think the best ones are in cafe's, guest houses and supermarkets, the chain hotels have ruined them with the self serve buffet as its invariably tepid and been there hours, working on the assumption that no ****** wants to eat it so you can have as much as you want, its still cheaper than doing it fresh and delivering it to you. Was in the Holiday Inn in Brighton last year and had to leave as this old bloke, abou 80 odd was going round with his specs ont he end of his nose inspecting everything and alternately coughing and sneezing, was grim, dirty old ****.

I try to be good if in a hotel for a week and have normal stuff and perhaps one full breakfast, then I make a point of putting on more beans, Egg, Mushrooms and tomatoes rather than loads of processed meat, one rasher and one sausage. Have spent too many meetings, seminars and courses still chewing 2 pounds of sauage and bacon well into the afternoon.

Af for that "Kidz" thing, looks horrific, I have a decent sized normal plate and can end up feeling stuffed, that is just obscene, if you have chips on a Full English they have to be disguised as sauteed potatoes or hash browns really, Little Chef do that well, at home its last nights left over boiled new potatoes, sliced and fried. I alwasy used to get a Little Chef Olympic when on site as it enabled me to work through lunch.

For the potato lovers that need some on their brekkie, Rosti's make a nice addition every now and then.

LOL at J4CKO, I know what you mean about hotel Eat as much as you like, everytime I went down to our Melbourne office I'd do the same, load the plate up on morning one, then promise myself it would be fruit and yoghurt the next two mornings, never happened and the indigestion, jeeeeeezus !!

I was always pleased to get home to my wifes cooking .

My sister's husband, Colin - who was also our uncle (non-blood side though ) - died suddenly because of a similar diagnosis. Heart attack right in front of her while they were in bed. No previous cues whatsoever that it would happen.

Lost him, two aunties (both my dad's sisters - one previously the wife of Colin) - AND my dad! - all in one year; 2009! My only immediate family left is my older brother and older sister.

What was your diet like for the years that led up to it, Les? Did you have a mild heart attack or something... Or terrible pains? Did you exercise any?

Hey, peeps! I did have English breakfast yesterday for my breakfast+lunch+dinner.

I had:

2 rashes of bacon
2 eggs
6 baby plum tomatoes (halved)
5 mushrooms (Sliced. Not button ones. Tesco had run out of button mushrooms)
1/2 an onion (finely sliced)

I could have George Foreman-ed it, but I fancied it all fried. So I used a teaspoon full of vegetable oil to cook all of it (seperately, of course) in a non-stick frying pan. Once cooked, I garnished the whole plate with crushed black pepper and wild rocket salad as well. It was bloomin' marvellous!
English breakfast all the way!

Yeah, a know- I made it for a facebook group last year. It got in the 11/10 group and was awarded profile picture status. It's them fried eggs - they seem to be suffused with an otherworldly, heavenly light. I can hear an angelic choir in the background when I look at them.

to an extent there is rhyme and reason to the lead up to it, the exact moment of impact is unpredictable unless you have regular blood work done, to check ldl/hdl levels and ratios and regular b.p checks. along with liver enzyme levels and kidney function along with hormone levels

its most certainly a result of a combination of a diet that has a negative impact and your predisposed genetic make up, and reaction to nutrients you intake through life - along with other factors including stress/excersise ect.

you just have to look quite hard to see the indicators, and be aware of what to look for.

whilst not a cocnrete guide, understanding family genetics and a basic understanding of nutrition can go a long way to minimising potential risk, and thats about as much as you can reasonably do

thats discounting enviromental influences eg dangerous places of work eg asbestos plants ect.

Last year? Bit cold and rubbery, wasn't it?

Ironically, the thing that let's down the ingredients' 'classical-ness' are indeed the eggs!...

...In that the yolks are ever so slightly covered in set albumen. If they were properly SSU and all lovely and golden, then you'd have swept the board! lol.

The set albumen would have to be a matter of taste - if you look carefully you can see that the yolks are perfectly liquid - they're slightly hanging under their own plumptious weight, like a nubile buttock or breast encased in white satin.

...Hang on, I'm just off to "Relax in a Gentleman's way".

By rhyme nor reason I meant that up to then I had felt perfectly fit for my age and there was no previous reason to expect a nasty angina attack. That was the point I was trying to make.

I certainly agree with what you say and I reckon that if you are going to make a habit of eating a dangerously poor diet, you can expect future problems eventually and usually without any real warning. The way to prevent it is obvious as you say.

I am intersted in your comment about working in asbestos plants. Did you mean a threat with respect to cholesterol/blood clots or the risk of contracting asbestosis.

I dont recall having BBQ sauce when I was in OZ. Must admit I do love maccy d's hashbrowns. Its rude not to have at least 1 extra with any meal. Agreed in the single saus & egg - double saus overpowers it lol.

So no one has gone for Biscuits & Gravy

2 halves of Fried Bread
Slice of buttered toast
Mushrooms have to be sliced & sauteed in butter and salt & pepper. None of this whole & slimey malarky
4-5 porky white chipolatas (by far the best branded sausages Ive tasted)
3 rashers unsmoked bacon with the rind crispy
2-3 fried eggs with yolk still runny served on the toast
1 Tomato halved, seasoned and cooked well
A tablespoon of beans - any more and I end up leaving them
Couple of Hash browns - none of this crap with onion in it though - nice and crispy and salted
black pudding as long as its cremated - they served it up raw once at boarding college and that was not nice at all
heinz ketchup or hp sauce

I love my coffee but a mug of tea with a fried breakfast is a must have - completes it for me.

You're right the Sausage and Egg McMuffin doesn't have BBQ sauce in Oz, although the Sausage is a spicey variant, not as nice as ours, they did however do a breakfast roll with Sausage bacon hash brown and bbq sauce

Yes yes, I agree! That's the way to have them if you don't want to gag. But you can still get the yolk to be runny without the snot... and without the layer of white over the top.

But in any case, I was saying that from a purely aesthetic POV i.e. for the sake of BP's photo, the eggs would have looked better wthout the white over the top (resembling a pair of perfectly round yellow breasts - like Marge Simpson's LOL!)

Yeah - love that prog. Adam Richman FTW!

And thinking about it, you're right. The longer you stare at a huge plate of food for, the quicker your appetite wains. Sight plays a huge part in affecting appetite.

Yep. I have one hash sandwiched IN the Muffin... And then finish with one on its own; to savour it, in all its unsullied gorgeousness.

And yeah, 2 saus. patties is far too much meat - can bring on the 'meat sweats'.
