Your gearbox aint man enough to run a 18G to it's full potential! You are better off with 16G and sitting around the 350 mark.

Hi mate.

Looking at your rolling road printout I think the flywheel figure may be out. Most use a conversion of 18% for transmission loss from flywheel to road wheel, which has been proved in other threads and tests. This would make your flywheel power 341 bhp.

Still a good result in my opinion. Sorted! Nice car!

True, your clutch won't though, when i had mine done on a dyno it started slipping at the end of the session lol, well if its partly worn anyway, something to be aware of choco mate

Did the hawk wrx's come with a stronger box than the blobs then? Or isn't the torque delivery as brutal on the 2.5's?

From 03 onwards the gears are 1mm thicker on the 5 speed WRX, the old box will $hit at 350hp the newer wrx box should be fine with 400hp with no daft lanuches

Hi Dave personally i like the PPG sound and really you need drive first and then decide if its for you

How much will cost conversion from your standard box to PPG with Albin or Pfitzner gear kit,i think around is £400-£800 depends on garage

6speed is best solution on longer run and price will be lower including fitting

So my 04 WRX would be good for 360bhp rather than the 330bhp I was going to do??

Hi Dave hard to say,how long will last 2nd hand box,if you are buying from trustworthy seller and honest seller its much better.

Decision is hard and really if your current box working and holding power,i would say don't worry so much

if you will want go with next step, bigger turbo and other upgrades in this time i would think about the box and really best is speak with someone who will built your box and who will recommend you what to do

We are from start speak with our mapper and engine builder Neil@Slowboy racing and he suggest us PPG due better ratios
