Had a great day today guys. Didn't run my car but enjoyed watching.
Met up with TubbyTommy, Kas and Harry and must say what nice guys they are. Really was a pleasure meeting up with like minded gents and talking cars. Just goes to show that there are some really genuine and thoroughly nice guys on here.
Hopefully meet up with you chaps again soon....
Kas and Harry were running their cars but Tubby and I left without seeing how they finished up. They were struggling a bit with their first go but as many know, it takes quite a number of runs before you nail the launch.
Couple of pics......

It was great meeting you lads aswell. Down to earth people. Subz were looking mint, love the redbull mod!
Some nice shots there i will try and upload a few of mine. 1st run was a 13.9, 2nd 13.1 & 3rd was a 13 flat. Without full bore launches as i didnt want to break anything plus first timer.
Harry was the shining armer of the day :-)

It's built and covered almost 2K miles but still waiting on parts to finish and map.
Lateral built 2.35, port and polished V8 heads, uprated valves, double valve springs, titanium reatiners, adjustable exhaust cam gears and LP06 cams.
Non billet GT35R with 0.82 exhaust housing. Would love to hit 600-650 on 20% mix but who knows. Imagine torque will be low due to the cams but hope for 500ish
What are you looking to gain on the new setup vs the old?

Nice snaps Matty was a pleasure meeting yourself, TubbyTommy and Kas, had a great time chatting about scoobies, drooling over all the awesome machinery on display and ofcourse popping my 1/4 mile cherry.
I started by running a 13.84, then a 13.26 and finally a 12.98 before i decided to call it a day as i hadn't deactivated/adjusted the launch control when i reloaded the map onto the ecu last week; it was optimised for the previous turbo thus along with my lousy gearchanges contributed to my snail like 60ft times... I say bring on the next event
Hope to meet you guys at the next event!
p.s. Kas there was nothing in it!

Is the ACT not the greatest for launches then Kas? By the sounds of it, it doesn't like it and i'm not the most gentle on launches lol

Lol it must have been the curry smell i had in the back
Well after going to the strip for the first time it goes to show how different it really is compared to fast road use. On the strip you get more wear & to be honest Tom, the ACT is not the best if you plan on doing full bore launches. Therefore i was riding the clutch & releasing it slowly to avoid fast wear. Ideally a twin plate or 6/4 pad would be ideal along with some slicks.
After so much fun yesterday i think i need to save up for some proper tyres & a proper clutch as I want to go again lol.
Once again it was awesome meeting up with everyone, would have been good to see Matty's one go down the strip . Harry the pics have come out amazing, the third one of yours needs framing! Tubby throw all those mods on & take out some tarmac
Some pics i took with my N95 & some pics taken by the people at Pod. Apologies for the wollop face look

What tyres you using Kas?
The problems with the pad clutches are you're more likely to break something on launches, heavy traffic (which i'm sure we both encounter) and they're more awkward to drive with from what i hear
If i can hit a 10 with the SB4 than i'll stick with it, if it can't hold up then i'll probably make the leap to the pad

Toyo TR1's. If it is a unsprung disc then yes you would probably break something. Sprung 4pad or 6pad should be ok without putting too much strain on the input spline when launching. I couldnt live with a stiff clutch for daily use.
Harry has a twin plate Exedy & his peddle is like OEM. I would defo go for twin plate next time round.

great pictures gents, I was the owner of the blue turbo 2000 wagon parked up the back next to the bike/sidecar, didn't take it up the strip as i'm a proper wuss and always worry about breaking something
The turn out for this was really good, and it wasn't as freezing as last year either. Nice to see the scoobs still putting in good times against some of the barry boys!

notably a 1.0 106 that sort of just drove slowly up the strip with the chav at the wheel leaning forward in a comedy fashion complete with baseball cap and "me burd" in the passenger seat
on the other hand though there was a audi rs4 running 650 bhp that was being "tested" for a customer, very nice car complete with the number plate RS04 OMG

Next time you gents fancy a run up the strip be sure to let me know. All the way home I was wishing I ran mine, reckon my old shed could give you a good run for your money, lol.
They do loads of 'run what ya brung' days so whenever your ready we'll meet up.
Funniest thing of the day for me was watching a gent in a Impreza wagon attempt a burnout to warm his tyres...

Here's the calendar for the POD.
Would be good to get a meet up there before the weather gets too warm.

Would be great to get a good crowd of us there and have some fun on the strip and talk about cars.
Really enjoyed yesterday even without running my car.
