Saturday Night Special RWYB Santa Pod - Who is going?
#61
Yep "should" hit in the 12's now if I'm braver off the line. Ran a 13 last time I ran it, was 380bhp at the time with grandad like launch and extremely hot weather.
Would be great to get a good crowd of us there and have some fun on the strip and talk about cars.
Really enjoyed yesterday even without running my car.

We are hopping run in few weeks times if time allow

Don't think I'd hit 11's to be honest, a high 12 would be a great result for me.
Only using a P1 box so have to bare that in mind on the strip. I do have LC and AL but wouldn't use them, that would I fear be too much strain on the box and running gear.

I remember a few years back when you were ready to sell up as you thought your engine was letting go as it smoked a bit on startup. I take it that it's still the same engine you're running now? Aren't you glad a few of us convinved you to keep hold?
Is it still the SC50 you're running Haroon?

We made 400 on the dyno but conditions were shocking. We had to borrow a local dyno as Paul's is still not up and running. They only had one fan and that was the size of a bloody dinner plate. Temps were through the roof, car just couldn't make boost target. We didn't want to run it much on there because of this.
So got it out on the road in the cool air and made boost fine.
Need to get it over to RCM really for a run but to be fair I'm really not that bothered. Car feels fantastic at the min so don't really care where the figures are.

Kaz and Harry your cars sounded really good at full chat
I see I wasn't the only one battling with launching, the 60ft times are all above 2 seconds.
I was in the mica blue phase 1 classic, I did two runs 12.3 and a 12.2 at 114mph.
Had a good afternoon, just no traction.
Next time its no spoiler and some sticky tyres and I hope to see that ellusive 11.999999

Hoping for the end of the month or beginning of April but time will tell.

Yep thats the one, i was thinking of getting rid at the time as i had fitted a new journal bearing turbo that didn't really seem to gel with my engine; it smoked on startup and at idle after running off boost for a while, i thought the engine was on its way out and couldn't really afford a rebuild at the time so i hasitly posted a for sale thread to generate interest, since the new turbo she's been absolutely faultless!
Still running the SC50, what's your spec?

Excellent times Jura, wouldn't mind tagging along next time you head down.

Matt your car is not a shed, it looked a clean & well spec'd classic.
I still think I could get into low 12 with a good launch & removing all the junk from my boot lol. Good gear changes & some decent tyres would defo help.
Some videos my mate uploaded on youtube last night, i have watched them like a 100 times now

I've always seen skylines get fairly slow times given how much power they were running, not sure if t's always been down to traction or just how much they weigh as standard
