Default top gear

I like many others understand what top gear is about and enjoy all the messing about in cars, stupid road trips, scripted scenes etc, but i feel that they are running out of ideas and have taken it to far!!

Get back to the cars with ABIT of messing about!!! not the other way round!!

Wink

I thought last two were utter Sh1te so posted below

Sorry as an avid fan I have to say the two episodes were bad. Have the writers run out of new Ideas and just “Copy n Paste ” revamped old episodes.
Seems more like a POP band re-hashing an Album, cashing in before Splitting up!! Hope it’s not a swan song.

The main thing that has ruined TG for me is the over acted scenes. The way the show is so scripted now really is a massive shame. The funniest episodes are the ones when the 3 guys are having a genuine and honest laugh.
I don't find smashing up new Jags and focus's coupled with their poor acting skills that interesting.

No one mentioned the Subaru boxered Toyota?
Anyway, its light-hearted entertainment and tonights episode was pretty much an advert for the new Sweeny film. No i didn't find the VXR review interesting but i'm sure some 17yr old's did.
I pissed myself at the Serbian's accent and Ray Winston/Plan B bouncing around after their "landing".
Its better than the boring "we've seen it on TG so lets do similar" crap on 5th gear.

Your right Matt totally think they have run out of ideas and its been well scripted typical example when hammond was talking to ray winstone ! think the director seriously hated clarkson though ,but have to agree getting boring now need more like the vietnam special ,i think the rescesion is hitting the bbc too!

I must admit I have not watched top gear for a while now , because of the content . 20 yrs ago this was a program for pure petrol heads ,lots of tyre smoking, tail out driving action . Now it is designed as a family show with stupid challenges & a audience who know **** all about cars. I have videos of the old top gear and they are much more enjoyable to watch than the current crap that graces our screen imho.
I remember clarkson announcing the p2 from prodrive and the audience laughing, as know one in the audience had heard of them. Most people who have owned a half decent sports car will have heard of prodrive , not just scooby owners.
If I watch anything it tends to be 5th gear as Jason & tiff are racing drivers not actors.

I liked it

To me all the ' acting ' was done very tongue in cheek , to me they were taking the p155 out of themselves , the landing scene had me in stiches , as did the fat ***** walking towards the panda , and especially the emergency stops , the looks on there faces , the panda was crap but it made me laugh.

Ok i'm about 30 years too old for the Corsa , still a nice car to look at , and to see hooning around the track , not everyone's cup of tea , but again , I enjoyed it.

I'd rather watch top gear , with all the antics and scripted scene's , than the usual rubbish the other car shows spew out , there are times that TP needs turning off , but all in all I enjoyed last nights show

I'd say it's a tough call for any show to appeal to everybody. I'd rather watch even the slightly dodgy bits than go back to some of the old car shows we used to get which were truly naff. The pretending "not to know anything" bit is just a pi$$ take for the benefit of the nerdy element.
My top episode is still the Polar trip, which was absolutely stunning.
If nothing else, the production is always top notch.

Then, you moan about hour it wasted an hour of your time?

The best thing with all the moaners is its the same names every time lol,
They are that thick they moan its ****e yet keep watching it, cant they work a remote lol lol,
Get over it, its TV not life and death, from the viewing figures of several million viewers do you think they care about what a handful of repeat idiots think? im sure they can cope in loosing a few people who would rather sit in a car on the M25.

The audience is full of a mixture of either modeo driving, middle management 40 somethings, whose idea of motorsport in a team-building day doing go-karting, or fit 20 something women who probably drive Minis.

They put the latter at the front of the audience, and the former kind just hang off Clarkson's every word and laugh sycophantically at his every uttering.

Hmmm....Whilst it certainly wasn't their best, it wasn't the worst, either.
Little bit of hypocricy going around regarding the Corsa from a community where big winged, noisy exhaust, flash wheeled, stickered-up saloons are the order of the day? It was actually quite a clued up attempt by Vauxhall at a quick small car. Compared to the latest offerings from Subaru, it didn't look too bad!
Where Clarkson acts the self opinionated buffoon and May the slightly retro hanger-on, Hammond seems unsure as to what he should be! The first three letters of his name sum him up?
Lastly, a plea to the producers - give us a rest from bl***y American (+Canadian) "actors" who most of the public have never heard of! Why not have one episode with a charity raffle, where a member of the audience gets the seat in the 'reasonably priced car'

Not really, but I understood James' point, a 1.4 pug 205 can be more fun than a scooby sometimes.

I never understand why people post saying "that episode of TG was ****e" just means your expectations have changed, as a stand alone episode, it wasn't as good as the others, but it wasn't that bad.

Not seen last nights yet so I can't comment on it, but, Id rather them hoon around in a Corsa, than some super car that probably 0.3% of the viewing audience could afford to buy. I find it boring when theyre thrapping round in the latest Aston Martin, that looks identical to the last model, only with an extra 14 bhp and 36kg less weight.. Who gives a s***e? Least them reviewing a 25k car might just make up a few viewers minds on what car to buy next..

But hey what do I know?

Default TOP GEAR.

I feel that they need to just strike a balance, but for me its getting abit to stupid!! The overly scripted scenes and conversations r cringe worthy! I dont want just car reviews as that would be boring, but a nice mix and some new ideas would give the show a few more years running.

Ive watched top gear since the year dot and would miss it if it wasnt on our screens, but i found myself flicking between channels when im normally glued to the tv for a hour!

There was one memorable episode since the recent lot arrived.

We had this one in for rebuilding..

The motor wasn't too clever, so we fixed that up, heads, cams, carb, dizzy and sorted the brakes, suspension, exhaust etc.

It looked like this when we were done..

And this is it on the show..

I'm not sure he realised what a Dodge Charger was actually like to drive, but I think he still has it.

tbh this show became utter ****e a few years ago now..everything is pre-scripted and slightly embarrassing..its a soap opera for blokes and their kids. its just becoma a parody of itself and i lost interest some time ago, but the odd scan of 'Dave' lets me know that its still not worth wasting my time over. it used to be quite a funny show about cars once upon a time.
