from memory and its 2 or so years since i did mine. Theres a small pipe from the manifold that goes to a small black round filter thing. Which i believe has a one way valve in it. it tee's into 2. one side goes to the fpr and the other to be left open to vta. dont block it up. i believe the filter/valve has to be the right way round to

Evening all ... Problem still here haven't had time really to work on the car today ... Still open to ideas, thoughts & suggestions, apart from putting the recirc pipework back on, there is the underlying issue

Any ideas today people

Sounds like oe dump valve is too weak spring and so is the forge.

If you push the piston in on dump valve and put your finger over the vac pipe connection the piston shouldnt fully move back out. If it does then its possibly a seal/diafram issue with dv.

Try blocking dv off totally to test.

Hi Simon ... Ok I have checked the oe dump if I force piston back and cover the vac pipe it dose stay slightly open so don't think that is the issue, also with the forge I have a spring kit and have tried the different grades of springs,
the problem is there is so much air coming out the oe dv costantly it keeps the piston open all the time so when I put the forge on there it is causing the air pressure to back up and cause a clicking from turbo as there is no way for this excess air to go..
I was thinking maybe the ecu may have been mapped for other mods prior to me buying the shell but am unsure.
I just don't no what could be causing all this extra air pressure.

Cheers

What version is your car mate ?

I have a V6 and I put the samco intake on mine and it's got 3 or 4 outlets coming off the pipe.

I think the standard recirculate valve is supposed to stay open slightly at idle to recirculate the gas into the intake that's what it is supposed to do.

I was going to remove my Hks dump valve and put the recirculate back on mine but was told it would run rich at idle possibly and might need a map tweak if it does, this is because the valve is recirculating the gas at idle..

Any mods to the air intake system other than a panel filter will req a remap I was told by my mapper and RA Motorsport

You should only have blocked off the recirc pipe that comes off the TMIC if you have blanked off any other pipes it won't run right.

Yes but this isn't a little amount of air it's a lot then if I put the forge on it has no where to go and start backing up to the turbo I think..that's what is causing the clicking ..

The intake pipe came with 1 take off for recirc I bunged that 1 up I then bought a take off to put on the intake pipe for the boost solenoid .. The others are just breathers for the crank and heads which my are routed to my catch can..

Sounds like something isn't plumbed in correctly, can't see this being a mapping issue IMHO. Post some pictures of your setup so we can get a better idea on what the issue might be.

If it were me I'd put the OE intake & DV back on - VTA DV's are a pile of ****e, but that is another discussion.

Just seen the pics, sorry. They are blocked on my works PC.

Difficult to see from those shots what the issue is but is try putting it all back to std & see what happens.

You need a baseline test before changing stuff.
