With 650cc you should be all right on the 450bhp,but not with 550cc,with the for you should be lucky if you will make around 400-420bhp,but not 450bhp

i have had a newage wrx before an sti and to be honest unless your driving fast i prefer the 5 speed as its ratios are longer and less gear changes needed.
but if your driving it hard the six speeds lower ratios make the driving experience better. i.e. more acceleration

Personally we are loving the PPG and really nice to drive,in city/town driving is OK,just don't get twin plate with Twin plate you will hate every traffic light or traffic jam

last car was a newage sti and hated the 6 speed seemed the more i upped the power (380bhp)the more i was up and down the box and hated it ,plus syncro between 4-5 went at 26k miles which left a big bill.

personal opinion but vf34 with 5 speed makes really nice fast road car, more isnt always better.

this i understand, you do seem to be forever changing gear the more power you have.
i have never had any problems with the six speed but find the 5 more relaxing as a day to day drive, just a shame they cant handle big power

how long have you owned it now?

the engine is a good spec now and you will never get back what you put into it so get a new box and enjoy

its not a problem in normal day to day driving but as soon as your on turbo you need to shift quickly in the lower 3 gears.

i would suggest trying an sti box before buying as maybe a 5 speed ppg box would suit better, i like the sound of ppg boxes too.

yes they handle serious power but if he doesnt like the six speed this is a 5 speed option and handle future upgrades.

agree there mate,up to 330 on the vf35 was hardly noticeable 4th seems to run out very quicky ,

i like the vf34 with ported headers on the wrx just seems perfect any gear foot down and it goes makes a nice drive ,

on the 2l bigger turbo will cost you lower down where most of the power is needed ,island to island fast road is best way to set car up for daily use, keep in mind big power can ruin the car ,

vf34,vf48
5 speed
good shocks/springs
rear anti roll bar
good brake set up ie brembo/k sports
sti top mount
ported headers
is all thats needed to make cracking daily fast road car .

aint scooby clinics 5 speed gettin great reviews/results? maybe worth a look

one moment, seriously though........

15k can get you a serious track weapon. point im making is he is a bit away from that, plus he needs to spend £££££ now on a new gearbox.

it is our hobby, so i agree with spending, etc etc but.... jees

but he is so far in with his spend he will never get the cash back on selling so may as well carry on.

i must admit i would have cut my loses by now but fair play for carrying on but if he knew what he knows know i bet he would of broke the car months ago i bet.

mate i dont get drawn into the newage classic arguement i have had both.

i love them all but as a day to day driver the newages are easier to live with for my old legs

my car is will be quick enough when it is finished fella
