Offered a refund, but I think I still want the car if the jobs done properly and a cast iron warranty. Both me and the Trader are unsure what the outcome will be on their part, but neither of us are happy to have the car back unless there is a cast iron warranty from Subaru guaranteeing the work done. In theory if both the work and guarantee are satisfactory then I have a cracking car back with a `fresh` engine.

You`re right, i`m a very calm person. I`m not angry at all about the car, just gutted. Life`s too short........

My refund has been offered and is only a phone call away. As said the car is fantastic otherwise and I will take back if satisfied with engine work.

Thanks for the luck, need a bit of that in my life besides the car issue

Did I get this right.............the guy who sold it to your trader and the locals stealer are going to do it FOC for you ?

Just curious, if I was the seller and the Subaru dealer I would be putting up a bit of a fight as legal title and responsibility should have passd over to your trader............. unless there was fraud involved

The seller had the car on finance and bought car from Subaru 10 months ago (hence some kind of 12 month warranty). He passed on to the way I understand it, to a friend of a friend who is the trader I bought from. There was still finance outstanding which the trader was going to clear with my payment. Luckily I made the trader aware of the problem before cheque had been sent to finance company.

So technically the finance company / seller own the car. The trader is as relieved as i am.

So if the Trader has no legal title he can't sell it to you so he refunds you and you start again.......... correct ?

From my understanding yes. But the seller knows that if the engine repair is done properly with warranty, he has a guaranteed sale. Otherwise he has a spec d on his hands for sale, with a fresh engine rebuild as a private seller in a market that can be tricky.
