I de-badged our family runabout a when I first bought it so you can't tell whether it's a diesel or petrol. I didn't do this due to fuel theft but because the half the badges were comin off anyway.

TBH I wouldn't do anything that would cause physical harm as that could put you in risk of prosecution and you could be subject to revenge attacks. Have you or are you able to fit halogen flood lights to your property? This usually discourages them and you have better lighting on your cctv, especially if you install a standalone in-car cctv.
