It's going during the night, I think. As someone is in the house most of the day. The tank is far enough away from the house to not hear if anyone is tampering with it. I would love to catch the thieving scumbags. 
Once they know where a tank is though, they just keep coming back and insurance companies will not cover the loss. Just paid 3k to get the oil system fixed. Am skint now

I have one on my house...I can hear it from my mums house which is 1.5 miles away! I know because the alarm went off and it phoned me up...popped my head out the door and went yup...I can here it
. I'm usually am greeted by a small audience of bewildered and slightly deaf neighbours when I arrive too (thankfully, false alarms are rare)
