I think you need to read some of the sections and do some searches, so you have a some specific questions, ie which is best between, rather than an overall vague question.

The vague questions tend to get the worst answers here.

Give us a budget, tell us what you would prioritise (handling, engine, brakes) as it is not unrealistic to spend £10k+ on these cars going for the "best".

give us an idea of your budget and we could suggest some mods for the track.
coilovers and uprated brakes would be my starting point though.
nice cossie the wheels suit it.

if your on a budget then bc coilovers are a good price, around £600ish then try and get some 4 pot front brakes or even second hand sti brembos.
power wise a new turbo and a remap would help loads.
i assume it hasnt got a cat but if it has a decat would also help power wise

hiya there mate, welcome to the subaru world.. im new to subarus aswell but i have learned so much so quickly about them. i bought a 95 import in black with bottom end gone, i didnt get it as cheap as yours but not far of but since having it ive took engine out striiped it and now rebuilding it all my self.. start to finish, easy cars to work with. this is a good site to learn alot about them so is youtube i have found, i also found every time i ask something 1 in 10 people will give me a good anser and loadss of views but hardly any posts. so there is a few on here that are good people to chat with, but there hard to find. im looking for big power aswell but be carful big power, big problems. gearbox wont handle it, open deck block not a good choise if you looking to go BIG power, but if i was you, you should look at uprated injectors, bigger turbo ( td05), fuel pump, induction kit, fmic, gauges and map not cheap cars lol. and 4pot brakes,bc coil overs, white line parts drop links/anti roll bar ... rear will improve handling alot pm me if need any info
