Are all hawk bootlids ali or just he Spec C/JDM `s
Tony,
I`m still a bit dubious if my result yesterday was a little on the generous side(As in it was spinning/loosing traction a bit on the rollers?)
I`m happy with the way it drives on the road so not really bothered, Only put it on to get a comparison from the last dyno it had in 2006, Still makes me wonder if it has had anything done to the turbo though?
Gaz.

Not until the MY05 Shaun. MY05 onwards they did get a ali boot lid.
Yes. From MY05 onwards.

Prices in Japan using exchange rate at the time
Prices in Japan using current exchange rate in bold
Prices as imported to UK would have been much higher post import duty, taxes and SVA
The Spec C version came mostly as a 17" version, the 16" version was significantly cheaper!
MY05 JDM STi
3,203,000 Yen £16,176 £24,755
3,302,000 Yen with privacy glass option (as per mine) £16,676 £25,520
MY05 JDM STi Spec C 17"
3,433,000 Yen £17,338 £26,532
Price difference to JDM STi +131,000 Yen = +£650 = +£1012 = +3.9%
MY05 JDM STi Spec C 16"
2,951,000 Yen £14,904 £22,807
Price difference to JDM STi -351,000 Yen = -£1772 = -£2712 = -8.5%
MY06 JDM STi
3,307,000 Yen £16131 £25,559
MY06 JDM STi Spec C 17"
3,405,000 Yen £16609 £26,316
Price difference to JDM STi +98,000 Yen = +£478 +£757 = +2.9%
MY06 JDM STi Spec C 16"
2,974,000 Yen £14507 £22,985
Price difference to JDM STi -333,000 Yen = -£1624 -£2573 = -14.5%
MY07 JDM STi
3,344,000 Yen £14229 £25,845
MY07 JDM STi Spec C 17"
3,436,000 Yen £14621 £26,556
Price difference +92,000 Yen = +£391 +£711 = +2.7%
MY07 JDM STi Spec C 16"
3,007,000 Yen £12795 £23,240
Price difference to JDM STi -337,000 Yen = -£1434 -£2604 = -11.2%
Just looking at the exchange rate differences, you can see why the JDM spec cars are rare and are not being imported anymore, which is keeping their prices relatively high. 2007 was a good year to be a JDM importer! 2012 most definately isnt!

I can never figure out with my Spec C Motorsport is why it comes with factory fitted air con, electric windows and central locking.
Why go for the lightweight version and then add weight back onto it?

I thought that about your car when I bought it over, I think it was missing an oil cooler to for some odd reason.

Juggers, funnily enough I junked the AC when I had the engine rebuilt as the condensor was in the way of my Setrab competition oil cooler radiator.
The only thing left that I'm considering 'sorting out' is converting the DCCD to automatic by the fitment of a controller called DCCD Pro or similar.

Sure http://www.sti.jp/e/competitor/n_homologation/2005.html is the listing of all homologation papers between 2000 and 2006
The footnote at the bottom will save you looking through all the papers (being a nerd i have read them all in the past )
"For the homologation forms, please refer to the table of homologated cars listed according to the type of cars.
Type B, C, D of IMPREZA WRX STi Spec C(JPN model) is not homologated."

So indeed the 2006 Spec C (GDBF4FH) IS FIA homologated.

Tony - how does your UK 340R compare to the Spec C in terms of performance and handling?

handling would be similar in standard form. Although I found it to harsh on the road main problem is the very flexible bushes and very stiff suspension doesn't help comfort or handling IMHO
Im not tracking the 340r but if I was I'd would have possibly gone up a spring rate. So I have softened up the suspension with AST coilovers but now need to sort out bushes as too soft
The biggest missings are
No turbo lag
quick rack
Feedback through steering
Tony
