Watched the 1988 season review on there earlier and I really hope they do some more of that. They also showed the 1989 season and tomorrow it's 1990 & 1991 I can't help but think it went downhill after 94 when Senna died though and it wasn't quite the same.

Good start to the channel though

Yep loving the season reviews although wish they'd started a bit earlier as I started watching in 1976 and would love to see James Hunt winning again.

As for post 1994 I think the sport became (rightly) a lot more safety focused and I guess a little of the edge went out of it as the stewards played more of a role, but 1997, 1998, 2003 and 2007 were great seasons.

What does strike me watching the 1988/89 review is how many cars when they have spun simply spin round and back into the race in front of other cars... these days you get a drive through for that no question. Ask Lewis

I have followed the sport avidly for 35 years but you don't realise how each season things have changed a little until today some aspects of the sport are unrecognisable. Look at the lumbering pit stops for example or the amount of wheel banging, the lack of safety fencing, how high the drivers sit in the cockpits....nah you're right... it was better then

Up to now the programmes have been fabulous. Great content and great quality.

If youre an F1 fan then it's a must. I'm now so looking forward to the first race.

Watched the preview show on Sky 1. Georgie Thompson

The 'Sky Pad' was slightly over used I thought, a case of "we've got this touch screen TV and must show it off".
Smirked at the number of former BBC people that chased the big pay cheques.

Judging it from the preview show, I was pretty impressed. Thinking back to last year I worked out I saw only one race live (always recorded the live race though) that I can't really justify £120 a year on the dedicated channel.
BBC extended highlights and 50% recorded live will have to do for me.

To be honest, I was left rather cold.

It is great if you are just into the 'geeky' stuff, which I am, but as far as passion goes, you would probably find more in a nunnery.

That main presenter was so fake and it was quite obvious that he had been brushing up on his F1 knowledge a few hours before the show. Yes, I know we need to give it time, but this lot reminded me of the ITV days. Not good.

And what about that guy who was sent to the first tests. Why the f*ck do we want to watch or listen to someone who knows naff all about the sport they are presenting on.

You can have as much tech and info crammed into an F1 show as possible, but without passion, the whole thing becomes a pointless exercise.

Lets just hope the race shows are better.

While I agree with some of what you say it's nice to have a channel that assumes those watching it know something about the sport they are watching.

The BBC, and ITV even more so, used to talk down to the viewer all the time and if I hear one more explanation of the Concorde Agreement, or why cars can't follow each other closely these days etc. etc. I will scream.

Even footall fans don't have the principle of studs on boots explained to them every time they watch a match and they are generally as thick as two short planks

When the Concorde Agreement got a mention on Friday in the preview show I braced myself, but they just carried on.... a welcome change

Plus all the extra programmes are so far excellent. Watched Senna win three world championships this last few days.... it doesn't get much better than that

Oh come on, apart from the 'off-side' rule, what else is there to explain about football?

In all honesty, I don't think the presenter knew what the concorde agreement was anyway. He was probably jusy reading it off of his cue cards and therefore didn't go into it.
My head was in my hands when he started to talk about tyres and how the Bridgestones and Michelins were so much more durable.
Der, we know! That's the point!

ALL of the Sky reporters/presenters came across as people who couldn't give a ****. The ex BBC presenters all looked a bit sheepish, as if they had done wrong and were waiting for their parents to find out.

Like I said before, that was the first show so I will give them the benifit of the doubt and see what they bring to the party next week.

Will there be repeats at a more reasonable time on sunday?

Reason ask I don't like recording it as I have a tendency to fast forward which I want to stop

Can't you just scroll through the guide, you lazy ******?

And yes, it is shown on the Sky channel at a slightly more reasonable time. But you can go and find it yourself.

Was flicking through the channels earlier and noticed there is a f1HD channel which it states i need to upgrade to and channel number 408, so does that mean that as i don't have the HD package i can only view it in standard definition?

We have the full sky package.

No that means you won't be watching it at all, unless you have the Sports package.

I suspect it's just like watching sky sports 1 instead of sky sports 1 hd.

Found the answer, looks like you have to have the HD package to get it in HD, slightly dissapointing.

1. If you have the HD package and Sky Sports 1&2, you will receive the F1 channel in glorious HD.

2. If you only have Sky Sports 1&2, then you will receive the F1 channel in SD.

3. If you have the HD package without Sky Sports 1&2, then you will still receive the F1 channel in stunning HD

So if you don't have the HD package or the sport package you won't get the F1 channel ??

I've got all channels apart from movies and sports and do not pay the extra £10 a month to watch the HD channels (even though I have a HD box).

Correct.

If you have HD without sports you get it, and HD with sports you get it.

If you have sports without HD you get the Standard definition channel.

Neither of the above options means no F1 channel.

I have an HD box but no subscription for HD or sports channels, just the basic package.....

During the weekend I noticed I could watch the F1 channel (channel 408) but not the HD F1 channel. However, I checked again yesterday and it's now been blocked.

It was the F1 preview show that was on though so maybe they were showing this to pull people in first before it got blocked????

I did find the touch screen thing all a bit over the top though.
