I worked at a main dealers for 13 years so did see a lot of new cars delivered from the factory with body/ paint damage so know it happens.
The frustrating thing with this car is i'd asked if it had any paint repairs beforehand and upon collection i told him i'd refused a car from 1 of their other branches as it had a full door repainted (different shade) and said i wouldn't buy a car with repairs done.
I've had a go with the DA tonight to see if i could flatten the paint and get a better shine to it but it didn't make much difference
The salesguy hasn't replied today as promised (after speaking to his manager) so i'll have to chase him up again tommorow.

What is the knock on affect of a full side repaint when trading in? £500, £1000?
If they wont replace the car for a same spec then should i get them to repaint and hope it's perfect or try some money back or even get my trade in back with full refund + expenses?

Given current fuel prices soon people will be paying to have their IMpreza taken away.

I have seen new Nissan cars have touch ups and smart repairs to bodywork before they even finish coming off the production line!

They have a dedicated onsite SMART team as part of the production service, popping out dents and everything.

I remember when i worked for Ford as a valeter many moons ago, and we pulled a brand new Escort around for its PDI valet and that still had masking marks around it

Dealer came back with an offer today and i don't know what to make of it.
I change cars regularly (every 3 months on average) and i mentioned this when buying the festa. They have said when i'm wanting to change they will pay CAP clean price instead of average if i buy from them.
If i want to buy from another dealer (definately not buy from them again) they will buy the car outright for CAP clean price and even collect it from my home.

What is the average price difference between CAP clean and average - £200 - £300?
Does this sound reasonable or am i being fobbed off? (got it in writing if i decide to accept)

TBH I would prefer hard cash now as you may sell it onto another dealer for your next car?

How much did they give you back?
I was thinking £500 - £1000 would be reasonable given the car was £9300 and would probably be worth that much less if it was sold as having paint?

Well another day and still no progress
Sent email to dealer - EVANS HALSHAW NEWCASTLE sayingi want a refund or replacement car as i dont feel another paint job will be perfect and the salesguy said the MD would ring me back today.
Waited all day for a call which never came so at 5pm i phoned him - he was busy and would definately ring me back at 6.30pm.
Well 6.40pm came and i phoned him again to see whats going on - he's bloody gone home !!!!!!!!!!!!

Bloody cowboys - sell cars not as described, refuse to speak to customers or return calls - guess its time for a solicitor, let them pay costs as well

Well MD phoned this morning - he kept asking me to take the car to a bodyshop so they can see if it needs repainting - i told him i didn't want more paint and for 5 mins we were going round in circles.
In the end he agreed to give me my p/x back and the money i added (so full refund), if the car was sold then he would give me the p/x amount.
He said he'd send email to let me know this morning and suprise suprise - no email
had a look on their website and the p/x is still for sale so should be back to square 1 at the weekend - car to p/x with cash so on the lookout again - typical AT website is down tonight
