i think the problem with merging forums is that people will not plough through loads of other posts to find something of interest to them.

Another forum i visited a couple of times a week merged forums to try and increase traffic and had the opposite effect as people just couldn't be bothered to go back through pages to find stuff of interest,

personally i agree that Scoobynet is dieing and i still look in NSR, Photograph and Computers occasionally visiting other when looking for advice, i wouldn't search back through pages of NSR to find computers posts.

If you hid photography in Members Gallery i think people will just think its been deleted.

It got to a point where i noticed mods moving threads for ridiculous reasoning. If the majority was in one thread (non scooby) it would most likely be like it used to. When nothing was moved and non scooby was more like a free for all sarcasm pit with some friendly advice at the same time.

Oh and bring back infractions.
Winner!

Sometimes there are just too many forum sections, Piston Heads has 150 separate sections!

Makes it a real chore to look for stuff of interest.

I think the whole of ScoobyNet should be condensed into one big room, called 'C*ntsville'. Would be quite interesting.

Two sections

Scooby related - talking about scoobs

Non Scooby related- not talking about scoobs

And then one small subsection for pictures of scantily clad ladies

****...got to be PC I suppose . One section for the ladies and gayhers who want to discuss fruit cocktails and colour schemes

If people keep on saying that SN is dying, then it will probably die! That would be a shame.

Indeed it would but i think there are plenty of die hards out there who will stay so SN will never die.
This is the only forum i post on and browse for fun and i have no intention of going else-where. If things are tidied up then all the better but if the admin bury their heads in the sand as per usual then so be it............... i'm staying put

I created and used to run a small forum a while back. It did not have a huge amount of members but it was a great place to hang out when SN was either slow or populated by idiots. A little escape

We also found that there were far too many sections and had a little tidy up after looking at the traffic and it was a far better experience. BUt do remember for everyone who posts tidy it up, there will be another person wanting that unique subsection entitled "White cars with Princess on Board Sticker " to be kept

Yes I think you are right about the diehards, and I stay on this forum for the same reasons as you.

I don't think it will die. It will carry on in one shape or another. Like you, I only use this forum, and that takes enough time of my life. I don't know how people manage to frequent different forums and networking sites. Like Chris, I also established a small forum when it became suffocating here. It served its purpose for the time being. Oh, I did sadly join Robbie Williams's forum at some point, and made about 3 posts there. Again, sadly, it it is such a no-energy pathetic place that I don't believe Robbie ever sang that song "Let me entertain you!"

SN is okay. It has moved on, but not a bad place to hang out. Doesn't matter if you have Subaru or not. I sold mine last year. I'm still here.

Royal pain in the **** IMO. As the tech section wants a tidy up.

And my scroll wheel is wearing out too
Scroll wheel? You don't have one that clicks and lets you move up and down at will, also MUCH faster than you can move the wheel?

I'm NOT for changing, sorry, guiys.

I like it as it is, I don't want to have to trawl through "n" posts on dumpvalves to find the ones on electrical, or brakes.

I don't want to trawl through "x" posts on hate crimes to find two on photography.

IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!

I have my mouse set to ultra-sensitive, so half an inch on the mouspad is enough the move the pointer from top to bottom of the screen. So in scroll mode half an inch of movement results in instantly zooming to the bottom of the page.

Although even when scrolling slowely due to the LCD monitor's inherant flaws, it blurs whilst scrolling so I lose my place, whereas the wheel has a tactile feel, I know one click down is a jump of about half a page. Now if I had a true 100hz 1600 line WQXGA monitor that can actually scroll properly without blurring I may make more use of it. But they don't exist, so its either that or get my old 21" UXGA CRT monitor out again.
