Yup, 135i is a superb car, it's got a turbo too, you know. I have one as well as a non turbo 911, but as you know, the 911 isn't a real one because it's missing a blower..

Not quite sure what you mean by the first sentence. You've owned over 300 Subarus??
Anway, I found the 996tt a huge disappointment when I drove it over six years ago. Today I would find it even worse.
It was heavy, didn't steer well, there was significant turbo lag, the engine sounded awful, it wasn't tactile. I will qualify this by saying it was a tiptronic, a gearbox which is an offence against humanity imho.
But it had so much wrong with it, even if you took the tip gearbox out of the equation it would still be mediocre at best.
The day I test drove the 996tt I went with my cheque book ready, convinced it would be the fulfillment of a life long dream. I walked away like a man who had eventually seen a girl he always fancied naked and then realised she had saggy t1ts, hairy armpits and a minge that smelt of rotten fish.

Turbo lag ? you 100% must of drove a nail as there is 0 turbo lag on a 996 turbo compared to any subaru standard or modded .Heavy 1360 kgs ?? I cant hear my engine just hear my exhaust note so either u had a nail or ive got a special one
Can i ask what you drive now and how you compared it to your'e test drive of the porsche ?

Just to be clear, have you really owned 300 Subarus?? Over a space of even 15 years that would mean you changed your car twenty times a year, or on average every 6 weeks. Or have I misunderstood what you are saying?
The thing is mate I think you are comparing the 996 turbo to Scoobies only, there are other cars out there. Scoobs are very good but perhaps not a benchmark?
You say you can't hear your engine and that is my point. All I heard from the 996tt was a series of sucking and whirring noises, nothing to really give aural pleasure. Have a listen to a decent burbling V8 or screaming V10 to know what I mean.
Also the weight iirc of the 996tt is circa 1550kgs, I think the 1360kgs you quote refers to a standard 996. Even 1550kgs is not heavy to be fair, but it feels heavy.
When I test drove the 996tt I was driving a C32 AMG. Soon after the wife got pregnant so a sports car didn't make sense. So a little while after I bought a brand new Audi RS4. I kept that less than a week because it felt so slow (compared to its claimed stats)
I then bought an E60 M5 which I kept until a year ago. Then in a moment of sheer madness I decided to try and be sensible and bought a current shape F10 535D M Sport. It is no secret on this forum that I feel that was a huge mistake.
So I'm now waiting to get back into a decent (drivers) car, not quite sure what that will be yet. It might be a F10 M5 or perhaps a family car combined with something pork flavoured.
You might be interested to know that Zip, who owned a 996 tt X50, now drives a Boxster spyder and finds that more fun to drive ( I hope I haven't misrepresented him)
So I am not the only one to have found the 996tt somewhat inert.
Btw, is your car a tip or manual?
