How would you survive a zombie attack ?

It would certainly shake things up a little. I actually thing you would be safe at home to an extent. If you have a good set of doors and windows they wouldn't be able to break them down anyway. And why would they converge on your house? If you were in the US at least you would have a cupboard full of shotguns and semi auto weapons to unleash should you need to.

Prison next to a supermarket.
Wouldn't want to stay at the supermarket because some of the food would go off and the place would stink very quickly. Unless you cleaned it all out.
There is the issue of being surrounded but I would go find some kind of riot control vehicle or half track and just drive through them.
If the zombies are the ones that learn (hot it hot cold is cold) then it shouldn't take long for them to work out that stand in front of gate means get splattered.

Probably not logistically possible and it depends whether the Zombie hoardes are gradual or an overnight thing as shops would be looted by survivors if it's gradual, but if there were enough of you and you were mobile with a secure base to return to then I would be going out in groups hunting for a few key things.
1. Petrol tankers, I'm sure there would be a few about abandoned. Fill them with as much petrol and diesel that you can get your hands on to stockpile back at base.
2. Refrigerated lorries. Mainly to keep food in, especially freezer box trailers to store fresh meat etc. before it goes off.
3. Look for a local Calor gas facility and grab as many gas bottles as possible to stockpile for heating or cooking with.
4. Get to a water outlet and get hold of as much bottled water as possible. Those big 18.5 litre bottles would be nice to get. The sort of thing offices have on the water coolers.
5. Stockpile as many batteries as possible. Even go to a large plant hire place and take the big diesel generators for power.
6. Medical supplies.
The prison sounds like a great base but I think clearing it out initially could be hard with so many rooms etc. As for defending against the hoardes at the walls, I think flame throwers would come in handy for that, or at least petrol bombs thrown in to the crowds.
The ship idea is a good one but you could struggle with re-supply, too time consuming transferring materials via small boats from shore. Especially heavy fuels for the ships engines.
It gets me though that one of the main things I think you would have to worry about is other survivors trying to kill you or at least take what you have. The world is full of living dead trying to eat you and the last few surviving humans still want to kill each other.......there is no hope for the human race.

That steam roller would be too slow, you'll only be going at the same pace as those zombies, plus you's want to be out of reach. I would have one of these instead, plus there's plenty of space in the back for shopping.
