Generally don't big cars up but this one got my attention well and proper! Nice clean cut look!

The "orange less" bits on the lamps make it look good...don't know why I still have em on mine!

Hi Martin, the only plans I have at the moment are in the first Post. Not sure what direction it will be going in long term. However I’ve always wanted to go down the built motor route with reasonable power, yet keep the car as a road car for use on track, so time will tell. I have way too much on this year to warrant doing too much.

Thanks JP, I’m not keen on the lights as they are at present although they are much better than the tango'd ones, but I have plans to blacken the backs to make them more menacing. The lights that are currently in are Spec C lamps, so I'll not mess with these as they are a rare item, so I will sort out my original lamps (de-tango/blacken). Thanks for your comment, and whilst on subject of keeping it clean cut, what ducting should I use for the Fog Feed CAI? Black seems to be the obvious, but I fancy going a little different. Thread here I started https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...s-blobeye.html

Hi Dave,

No problem early LOL, I’m glad it wasn’t anything serious (phew)

Ill get back to you on the de-tango DIY, from what I have read prior to buying the Spec C lamps it doesn’t look hard as long as your patient and careful. I think the hardest bit is making sure when you split them is not to get the mastic everywhere, and don’t touch the chrome parts as you cant remove fingers prints from them, or at least that is what I have read. I may try it tomorrow, in which case I’ll take some pics and make up a guide to doing it if that helps?

Rob

Ps- I sync’d and refreshed the iPhone I got from you buddy as there appeared to be some sensitive info (texts etc) still on it. iTunes stated there was 4gb still on it, so just flashed it.

Nice one Lee, I’m definitely interested in that. Let me know more, and if you can get some vid clips of your testing to see the layout that would be ace. I can send you my mini cam if you like?

Cheers all

Regards,
Rob

When you get your's detangoed feel free to do mine!

Re ducting...I've never had any on mine as didn't have the need to...we just take the fog covers off when racing at Pod....does the job and looks hardcore same time (have a look at the clip I put up on 22b). If you still want to put ducting then go for black or sliver.

hmmm I wouldnt if some kind of Colander style fog cover would look ok, say 24 x 10mm holes? That would be more subtle, but then would it look a mess on close inspection.....

I'll review it, there might be something much better that I havent even though about.

I'll have a look on 22B once home Jag, im at work at the moment.

Well I attempted the de-tangoing on the original lights and it ended disastrously!

I read up on how to do this on the NASIOC site, and although it may have worked for him it didnt for me resulting in completely scrapped headlight.

Preheating the over to 200F which is around 90C and then leaving them in the over for 15-20mins should have worked, but I have since learnt that my oven clearly is working as it should as it killed the headlight.

20 mins in and still no play, the mastic wasn't soft as I was hoping for, at this stage I thought I wouldn't bother, but for some reason I thought a further 5 mins might do the trick, To my horror the lights had began to melt! Turning the oven off instantly and removing the tray from the heat, but it was too late, and then as the lens began to cool it sank and went all frosted. Game Over ;(

So after killing one Passenger side Headlight I am now looking for a replacement, and this time it will be with a heat-gun where I can regulate the heat myself!

Pesky Oven! I feel like writing to Hotpoint and complaining that it overcooked my headlight LOL

Rob

After this complete c@ck up I will net be putting no headlights in "that" oven, and when Mrs Day gets home later today she can explain to me why she never though to tell me the "new" oven is Sh!te

The way this weekend has gone i think i'll leave it for now I took the car to the car wash (local jet wash) just to get rid of the surface dust from the works carpark this afternoon where I was blasting the car, but unbeknown to me there was a car parked for sale at the side with all its windows down What a day

Indeed JP, its been an eventful afternoon, I never were good at cooking

I just want to get the lights and the intake looking right, then until next year there will be little more done (cough) unless I put in some extra hours at work

Out of curiosity what is the best TMIC you can get that will go well beyond the 400 that the STI seems to be safe at?. Ive heard that APS can get to 500ish? Food for thought

This one did not catch, but one further on did even at crawling speed on the decent down. If I drop off on a slight angle (one wheel on, one off it doesn't catch

Hahahaha Cheers Rob...

Have sorted a set of 18" wheels, so that should higher the thing by half inch, then a set of 30mm lowering springs, will be roughly what yours is.. um... bugger!
I can see a lot of journeys zig zagged over speed humps haha

Not sure mate as I changed mine to FMIC when I went to +400hp. Although that doesn't mean you need to do the same. Give Alyn at AS Performance a call and he should be able to give you a good guidance on it. Tell him I've sent you.

Too bloody low I would say, its far from “slammed” as they say, but its proving to be a pain in the ****. The area of cautiousness so far are, speed bumps, Car parks (front curbs), and some of the roads around me where an decline meets a sudden flat road with little or no graduation.

That’s a very good point as I have 17” track wheels (gulp), that loss of ½” might be cause me some issues ;( I’ll need to find out what profile the tyres are first… That said its looking unlikely I’ll be doing any track days this year!

Yeah that’s the plan. I’m hoping that it will be a long term keeper, but the pressure is on financially at the moment, and as I can stop spending I may garage it and start biking to work soon LOL

I cant say I know much about it

However from the little I know its 100mm narrower, 15mm shallower and everything else has been adopted to suit to keep it in proportion. So the characters instead of being 79mm x 50mm per, with 11mm spaces, they are around 69mm x 44mm with 9.5 spaces, like I say I don’t know much more than that really! Hope this helps?

Small update:

I've been offered £7'000 for the car as it stands now, but have declined

The AF20G should be here today, Arf's decat DC 3" exhaust has landed, the Injectors are ready to go in, a new 3 Port was bought yesterday, and will hopefully all be installed and mapped next week for the changes.

I have plenty Meth and a replacement clutch if required

Rob

oh and a PU Splitter is on the cards ;(

Yes I SplitHer in two ;(

The speed bumps near me are somewhat random, so there is no consistancy to them. some are the full width of the road, some are just small islands and others are long bridge style things that cause most damage believe it or not.

My lasses school is around 3 miles away full of moorland roads which is fun, but on entering each town there are series of speed bumps (pictured above) which is a serious pain in the ar$e.

Ive got a family motor too so its not the end of the world if I cant cope with it anymore

Right best go, Phone call to Andrew Carr neeeded LOL

Minor update;

Sourced a brand new RCM inducuction and big k&n filter from a member on here

Aldo bought Arf's 3" DC exhaust, which should be more free flowing and hopefully still as quiet as my current Goode Racing one

AF20G was attempted to be delivered yesterday, so I'll pick this up Monday.

New 3 port should be here Monday too.

Car provisionally booked in for next week with Andrew Carr also primed to map at the end of the week!

Rob
