Yes and I still see them now, a few WRC rounds have them running as historic and they don't hold back.

Got any more info on this? I'd be interested in watching the rounds that have any Group B's running in them!

Spain always has historics, well the last few years anyhow, and it's the season closer this year.

They don't show any of the other classes? It's half the problem with WRC, too sterile and not enough coverage of extra stuff that would interest people outside of the main race. I'd rather watch the historic races than the WRC!

They do, but can't show them all. Spain will likely have over 100 cars running.

YouTube has great footage from spectators.

Finally watched the program, the man who was run over really annoys me. It was his choice to stand in the road and to try and touch the cars, his mate puts his hands up and says it wasn`t the cars fault but theirs. And to use the analogy of a house being hit by a car, does a house suddenly move into the road to get nearer to a car, and then move back onto its foundations?? Total tit.

But I think that they should bring back Group B, with modern safety engineering, modern crowd control, they could do this and bring the ***** back. I just think they go on too much about how "fast" it was, as modern cars go just as fast if not faster. So the old rubbish about power and speed has answered itself, make the safety cell and fuel tanks safe, control the crowds and it would be sheer awesome again!!

With how WRC seems to be flagging I wonder just how much the sport would be boosted with a return to Group B entries, both old and new modern day models. They need to get people's interest back and the way to do that is give them what they want to see - monster cars with ***** out driving.

Yep that was an amazing rally, took a week off and followed it around the UK in my RS2000 custom, we only caught a few hours sleep all week but the atmosphere everywhere was amazing. People were lining the roads through all the villages wherever you went.

Would cost to much to re engineer the older cars, and what a waste.

Have new Group B rules and start them with a safety cell like a F1 car, and work from there.

It will never happen - can you imagine how fast the cars would be with no limits on technology? Putting something that fast in human hands could lead to disaster from a very simple mistake which had it occurred in a WRC machine the consequences possibly could be far less.
I've said it many times on Scoobynet - strip the current WRC machines of electronic diffs, flappy paddle gearboxes and any other space age gizmos and the cars will naturally become better to watch as they will have way less grip and more **** out driving will be required

on one of the group b docs i watched before they said the 205 t16 was only 2 secs slower than an f1 car on a racetrack, bring em back, wrc is ****e now, loeb has killed it unfortunately and citroen dont even have a rally bred car for the road, i dont understand their marketing at all.

btw brun they have already done that if youve watched lately, no flappy paddle and no leccy diffs

The Group B rally cars were also built and raced to generate interest in the brands for road use so the manufacturers were generating extra revenue from that. Sadly owing to current emmisions regs and crippling running costs for road cars the same thing would not happen, so no incentive for the manufacturers to produce such fantastic rally cars anymore.

Unless the racetrack was Lydden Hill

@scoobeenut: The RS200 bore little resemblance to any road going Ford, other than the RS200. Ditto the Lancia 037.
