I love the 6R4 (obviously!).
Hell, I even had a hankering for the humble MG Metro Turbo! (never had one though)...
...And the below alone would have prob made me buy a Metro back in the day!:-
The MG Metro 6R4 (6-cylinder, Rally, 4-wheel drive) made its press debut at London’s Excelsior Hotel in February 1984 – and in rather dramatic style. The event began with the gathered journalists being invited to watch a film of a prototype undergoing testing. As the film reached its climax, the car was driven directly towards the camera, and just as it became life-size on the cinema screen, a real 6R4 burst through it, the driver – one Tony Pond – bringing the car to a halt just short of the astonished crowd.
How fappin' cool is that! Now that's how you promote!!! Sad that such an idea wouldn't even get within earshot of the H&SE today!

I agree about the RS200 although some of the interior trim ( on the road car) was from the Sierra. The cars where built by Reliant ( who made the Robin 3 wheeler !)

I have many fond memories of attending Group B stages and since in RallyX before they were banned.
Group B WOULD work now but designs will need rules regarding safety for the occupants, together with proper crowd control at events.
WRC is soooooooo boring when comparing to the good old days when Motorsport was proper "Motorsport".
All this bollox about making "RACING CARS" slower is getting on my ****.

I don't want to take the thread off topic, but my comment was in the context of what Scoobeenut went on to say "The Group B rally cars were built to generate interest in the brands for road use ... Sadly owing to current emissions regs and crippling running costs for road cars the same thing would not happen ...". Group B cars were a long way removed from contemporary road cars, and there's no reason why the same should not be the case today.

I fully understand your comments fella but in the case of Peugeot the T16 Group B literally saved the company as the sales of there next models (205's) went through the roof as guys related them to the T16's.
It's well documented and a known fact that the ONLY reason Peugeot is still existing was all down to their Group B involvement.

The 205GTi was a damn fine car anyway (one of the best ever IMO), and despite not being four wheel drive and mid engined, still bore a strong resemblance to the T16, i.e. the road car looked a bit like the rally car, not the case for the RS200 etc.
