Thinking of buying a bugeye
#31
I'd keep looking till you find a wagon mate, they are just so much more useful, and you may even get a blob for that money, my blob wrx ppp was only £4k 6months ago and it had AP 4pots on as well, i even saw a few for the money your thinking of spending, so they are out there.
On the bugs you need to watch out for rust on the front subframe.

Mine's got a 2.1 enginetuner engine in it with 350hp, and it's got this novel concept called a "usable boot". I can't really think of a better family car for the money - the only thing I'd change to would be an E61 M5 (touring), but a clutch change and a set of brake pads alone on that would cover the whole purchase price of the bug eye

Anyone heard of car swap In Rochdale?
They have a nice looking 2002 bugeye in stock, low mileage with a few external tweaks such as sti rear spoiler, morettes and gold wheels seems reasonable at £3775 with warranty and fresh mot.
Sorry cant post a link from my phone But the website is carswapuk.co.uk

One point worth noting for wrx or sti, try and get too test drive the car from a cold engine.
Just had a look at the one you mentioned, is a just a trick of the light or has it had a bump on the rear end? Picture no 5. Thats pretty strong money I would have said for a bug wrx although miles are quite low. Warrany may not be worth the paper its written on, as some of these insurance ones are.
Just had a look on ebay and theres more than few for under 3 grand, however, I would admit in your position I would spend a little more than strictly necessary if I thought it was the right car.
The cards are in your hand these days, its definetly a buyers market for these cars.
