Brittany is obviously American, you can tell by the backward statement "how am I just finding this out". Poor girl, i`m surprised she didn`t end the sentence with "right now" or slip in a redundant "even"......I`m like totally oh my God....

Another example of the digital age lowering standards.
Now if they had an original copy of Led Zeppelins first album...........

To be fair, as a teenager you don't know everything but that is willfully dumb, some people seem to have a filter to stream out anything they aren't interested in or that wont provide instant gratification, pretty much everyone has internet access so a 30 second Google is easy to do and to get the basic facts.

I think learning at school for a lot isn't "cool", showing any kind of evidence of learning is considered bad form which is tragic, apparently this is very prevalent in the certain sections of the community, especially in London and other kids tend to pick up on this attitude.
Nobody is born with a complete Encyclopedic knowledge of everything but you tend to pick stuff up, nothing you ever learn is waster is what I tell my kids, you never know when you may call on it, if you remember it whether you learnt it at Oxford or on a Game Show it doesnt matter, knowledge tend to snowball as you make connections, it spurs you on to learn more and fill in gaps and these kids that are saying everything is boring just haven't made these connections and never will do as it is all gaps with nothing to join up as they are too busy chattering about TOWIE or some other drivel, or messaging on a Blackberry.
It is so easy nowadays as well, anything is a few clicks away, before you used to have to ask your dad or go to the library and generally find an out of date book or nothing relevant, there are so many documentaries on Satellite telly, my kids were engrossed the other morning watching something about Coffee being decaffeinated, was quite interesting seeing how its done and it filled in a gap for me, always wondered how its done, didnt keep me up at night but seeing as it was on I watched it.

I have been totally shocked at some of my kids lack of "common knowledge" and often wondered what the hell they were taught at School.
I had a feeling something was wrong when my 18 yr old daughter thought Margaret Thatcher was once married to Henry VIII ffs !

It's shocking, had a 19 year old babysitter come round and got onto a conversation about the royal family where she asked "is the Queen the queen of the world?"

good point well made.
I work with kids and I see this attitude every day with young 'uns where it is "cool" to be thick. I don't know why they aren't embarrassed that by the age of 14 they are still unable to string together enough words to make a coherent sentence.
My 2 year old son has a better grip on the english language than most teenagers.
I pity them really as they are victims of the world we live in. They are constantly being sold a completely worthless lifestyle filled with conditional self-esteem where money is the only measure of worth and aspiration means appearing on x-factor.
