What does really pi55 me off is if you ask Joss Whedon was the story for Alien: Res all original he swears that it is yet is a complete rip off of a comic story. The only big difference is Newt and Hicks not being in it. I don't get why he's never been pressed over it.
You didn't like Prometheus but liked FF5? wow.

it did look great, but should of been much longer to develop the characters, i didnt 'feel' for any of them!!

Yeah the characters were just dimensionless. The scripts was puffing hard to give them life but you didn't care about any of them.

Spoilers:
Don't read if you don't want to know....
Mate went to see it and he was very disappointed (was meant to go myself last night but a mistake by my mate had me giving him my ticket) Film starts well, but (in his words) ends up with people being bloody stupid and attacked by a variety of ****-monsters. The first one you see looks like an upside down ***** with the bollocks forming the head. In one scene at the end, a tentacles **** monster looks like it is face raping a bloke by shoving its tentacled **** in his mouth.

Watched in 3D yesterday. It was ok, some good action stuff, but not a patch on Alien and Aliens
Incidently one of my favourite quotes from Aliens
Apone - All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the Corps! A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the Corps!
and
Hudson: Hey top, what's the op?
Apone: It's a rescue mission, you'll love it. There's some juicy colonists' daughters we have to rescue from their virginity. Heh!

This does look like it will be a bit of an underwhelming one if expecting revelations of an H.R.Gigers style Alien/s or even anything near the graphic novels but I'll have to look at it with a bit of a stand alone film mentality from the sounds of it and see for myself.

It's all well and good finding a way to explain the crashed spaceship but the film itself just wasn't up to much I thought. I have a long list of geeky 'technical' moans but that is secondary to the actual story and script.

Ok I'll ask now:
We see Prometheus approaching the moon but its main engines are still pointing towards earth and firing, thus it would still be accelerating towards the moon and have no way to stop. A ship would have to point in the opposite direction at the midway point of the journey and fire to decelerate or it would maintain velocity forever.
How does Elizabeth do all the running and jumping after having just had a caesarian section which is only stapled back up?
Why does the blue man die at the beginning? I infer it was to create human life but why did he have to die?
Why is Prometheus flown in manual on the moon? It makes no sense with that level of tech to trust a human Captain.
How did the alien thingy grow in the med lab with no apparent food source?

I really enjoyed this film, many others have not though, it seems that people were expecting a true alien prequel and were dissapointed as there were alot of question raisers and unanswered questions, the film was infact full of things that demand more information, but as it has turned out to be a prequel to the prequel of alien I feel we wont have to wait too long for the answers.
The crashed ship in this film is not the one they visit in Alien.
Cheers Iain

Just got in and really enjoyed the film. It isn't the best film ever but certainly doesn't deserve some of the harsher reviews. It's an excellent sci if film. I would say its Alien related rather than an Alien film. Ridley Scott always said the story was to be told of the navigator. I do think there will be another film but might be a while off as Scott I think has Blade Runner and Forever War to make first. Guess it will depend on how well Prometheus fairs.
Edit - quite a bit of talk on the net that part 2 may have already been shot. Just needs putting together. Shooting both at the same time saves costs. They started out saying 2 films would be made.

Well they grow inside people so they obviously require some form of sustenance.
We've never seen any adults eat but otoh they have never been seen locked in a small room only to grow about x1000. I'd argue that it is sound to infer that they eat off camera.

Well I am still waiting to see the last 20 minutes as I had to make a hasty exit on Friday to pick up my son.
Hopefully, my friend will have 'acquired' a copy this afternoon!

I went to see it in 3D last night and really enjoyed it. It has a few downside like Tony De Wonderful mentioned but well worth watching on the big screen, I mean you wouldnt watch Men In Black 3 or Snow White over this.
