Speaking of witch, jj abrams star trek is on film 4 tonight.
Anyway saw prometheus, still don't know what to make of it.
But wish id waited, the pq and the 3d on my D8000 spanked what the cinema provided.
For £8.50 i felt kinda ripped off tbh.

As a small spoiler, I think that the black goo is not the genesis of alien (zenomorph), I think that it is genetic material harvested from them and engineered for use as a weapon or to create monsters, we dont see any zenomorphs in this film, but we do see genetic mutations which carry similar characteristics to the zenomorph ie acid blood, huge speed and strength. In the room with the black goo vases and the big head there is a sculpture or fossil of a zenomorph on the wall which led me to think that they are already in existence at that time we just dont see them in this particular film.

I was up the Old Man of Storr on Skye (where the Scotland scenes were filmed) last Tuesday and took a few pics.
Where the cave was meant to be I think. There is no cave though lol
I am from Portree (as a child) and I can remember seeing the Old Man every day and thought nothing of it, I went to see the Avengers weeks ago and a trailer came on before the film and the opening image was of the needles at the Storr, I recognised them straight away and was then blown away to find out that Ridley had done another Alien movie and that part of it had been filmed there.

I dont want to spoil it for you, just dont go in thinking that it is going to be a direct prequel to alien, its not, however it is still very related to the alien film. There is alot going on in the film, if you can look past the slatings that it has had for script and acting, it seems that Scott has given us a much bigger picture, within that there are alot of intentional visual and some verbal ques that instantly get you pondering what, why or how but these questions are not to be answered in this film so dont expect to find them, this may have been intentional as I can smell a sequel to this film which may be a true prequel to alien, in which some or perhaps all of the unexplained might be explained, or he may just leave us to make up our own minds, as a huge fan of Alien I really enjoyed this film, without giving anything away pay close attention to the character David as he seems to know more than he is letting on and certainly has an agenda.

I really enjoyed it and should be seen on the big screen .
But why do they have such dysfunctional crew on these vessels ?
The Geologist is a very annoying and aggressive character , surely he would have been identified as totally unsuitable for "deep space" travel.
Most geologists I have met normally have goatees and wear hush puppies !

It surprises me how many people have not enjoyed this film,
Each to their own I guess, personally I enjoyed it so much I went back and watched it again (had a free ticket so why not), it's actually a very clever film with lots of visual leads and clues with no real answers within the film, but after seeing it a second time some things started to make sense.

Yeah i think a lot of it was too subtle for some, so a second viewing is probably required.
I guess they made it, so you can take from the film whatever you need to.
Sure there are plot holes, but i heard a rumor the second film was shot the same time, and it would go some way to explain why it seemed disjointed.

Well things like, why would a biologist want to touch something that is rearing up and spitting.
Not the wisest of moves.
Also how no one batted an eyelid, after seeing noomi when she removed the alien.
I just feel there were scenes removed, now whether that was done for a future directors cut, or they filmed the sequel at the same time, i honestly don't know.

It needed better characters, they were very two dimensional generic sci-fi characters.

i was really looking forward to this as were my pals, we all drove to the cinema on a high, paid our 8 quid, plus another 1 for the glasses, then another 7 quid for a drink and snack......
omg, def. the worse film ive seen in a very very long time!
so many things didnt make sence, what was with the holigrams showing the big guys running round, why? why did the android spike the guys drink with black goo? wasnt explained and didnt make any sence! if the big blokes wanted man dead why create us in the first palce, but more to the point once they decided to get rid of us they decided to kill us off with either aliens or black goo but it went ti*s up and they couldnt finish the job... ok then so where did the cave paintings come from? one of them must have gone back to earth to leave the paintings for us to find later on, so in the future we would travel to the planet and discover the aliens / goo.. why... no no no no im sorry but this is all just a load of bo**ox!
Oh and "3D" really? on several occasions i lifted my glasses and the picture was the same, was more like a 2d movie with a few 3d shots put in as an after thought.

i liked the way that the "personal surgey pod" was flagged up nice an early in the film
must have really helped the fvcto retards amongst the audience get a handle on what was going on
