It's your car chap so really is up to you, but masking the problem really isn't the right solution.
I will get it mapped but in the short term I will use the resistor, am I being daft in thinking thought that the cel is on because the heat sensor is not working properly, if you put a resistor in the car will think the sensor is working fine and will not put the cel on.
If the cel is not on the car will then run ok. The sensor is not that important.

fully de-cat the TD04 WRX and you get a bit more noise, a bit earlier spool up, not a lot of extra power, CEL's for the EGT and emissions................and the ECU simply goes about is business and compensates. No boost spikes as the turbo is to small.

Now, de-cat the VF35 STi and it's completely different, boost spikes, airflow the ECU can't cope with and running lean.
